Agnes Pauline Singleton

Agnes Pauline "Polly" Singleton, 89, passed away quietly Saturday, August 25, 2012. She was born October 16, 1922, to Willie and Dona Brown in Drury, MO. She was raised near Ava, MO and was the second oldest of six children. She quit school early on to help raise her brothers and sisters, along with her paternal grandparents, after her mother's death. Years later, while working as a waitress, she met Max Singleton of Ava. They dated and married on February 19, 1943. They moved to Wichita, KS and worked in a defense plant during the War. Later, they moved to Entiat and Waterville, WA, where Pauline worked as a cook on a ranch for nine years. They finally moved to East Wenatchee and settled in 1960. Pauline loved cooking, baking, growing a large vegetable garden, needlepoint and quilting. She took up bowling in a local women's league when she had time from begin a housewife and mother. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and was baptized in 1980. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Max; three sons, Bill (Margery) of East Wenatchee, Richard (Jody) Of Dennis, MA and Ron (Joi) of East Wenatchee; 11 grandchildren, including Anne Singleton of Sammamish, Tim and Jennifer Singleton of Boulder, CO, Amanda and Abbie Singleton of Dennis, MA, Tami Knodel of Spokane, Kayla Robbins of Wenatchee, Joel Robbins of Moses Lake, Michael Robbins of East Wenatchee, Anna Robbins of Wenatchee and Kansas Cumiskey of East Wenatchee. She had one great-grandson, Logan Knodel of Spokane. She is also survived by three sisters; six half-brothers; two half-sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also lifelong, close family friends, Ted and Mona Stevens and Betty Deatherage. A Special thank you for recent care and loving attention of Randy and Patty Stephens of Autumn Gardens and Michelle Woolworth. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church at 1354 Eastmont Avenue, East Wenatchee. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. You may send flowers, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Alzheimer's Association or Bethel Baptist Church in East Wenatchee.
