Barbara Ann Wortz

Barbara Ann Wortz, 72, passed away on May 25, 2011, in Wenatchee. The daughter of Walter and Bernice Kacynski, she was born on December 16, 1938, in Detroit, MI. In February of 1959, she married Thomas Lyle Deskin in Detroit and soon after, they began their life together in San Diego, CA. Three children later and a vacation to Washington State, prompted a move to Wenatchee in 1972. There, Thomas and Barbara shared in their dream of building a home up the beautiful Entiat River Valley on ten acres, while enjoying their family and all that nature offered. After Thomas's extended illness and passing in 1980, Barbara married Roger L. Wortz in 1982. She and Roger enjoyed working in their apple orchard, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family. Mrs. Wortz spent her remaining years at her home in Monitor, where she continued to enjoy her friends, family and grandchildren. As a dedicated enthusiast of antiques and art, she never ventured past an antique store or art gallery without stopping. Mrs. Wortz had an innate love and compassion for people, young or old; she enjoyed every opportunity for listening to, sharing stories and conversing fondly with people. Her love of life was a gift of sunshine she passed on to all who were graced to have known her. She loved gardening and enjoyed the beauty of flowers, birds, animals and nature, as well as her love of travel, exploring and adventure. Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Roger L. Wortz, in 1991, and Thomas L. Deskin, in 1980; one brother in-law, Patrick H. Deskin, in 2009; and one son, Daniel Wortz, in 1982. She is survived by one brother, Richard Kacynski of Felton, DE; two sons, Lyle S. Deskin of East Wenatchee and Fredrick W. Deskin of Entiat; two daughters, Julie A. Campbell of Portland, OR and Susan Burbridge of Spokane; and five grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, with Pastor Steve McGrady of Mountain View Assembly of God officiating. A Private Family Inurnment is scheduled at a future date at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee.
