Bobbie Jean Hastings

Bobbie Jean Hastings,, of East Wenatchee, passed peacefully into the open arms of her Savior on Wednesday, March 26. Bobbie was born the youngest of six children on October 31, 1929, in Violet Hill, Arkansas, to Clede and Mabel Moser. The good times and good memories of growing up on the family farm lasted her a lifetime. Though times were tough in those days-she always said that "we were poor but didn't know it. Everybody was poor"-she learned early on to appreciate every day and take none of life's lessons for granted. She graduated from Violet Hill High School, and then went on to Arkansas College to pursue her dream to be a journalist. After only one year, though, the tough economic times forced her and her siblings to load up all they could haul and hit the road to begin new lives in Wenatchee. In the early 1950's she would meet and later marry Darrell Hastings,on August 15, 1954. in Wenatchee. They would three years later welcome son Greg into the world, and in another three, daughter Tami. Bobbie Jean worked part-time in her middle years for Iris Rose Fashions would later retire from "professional" work after several very enjoyable years at Eastmont Pharmacy. Her most important role in her and her families' lives, however,was that of homemaker, wife, mother, friend and encourager to all who knew her. In her own quiet and unassuming way she would spend all of her adult life touching others with her very thoughtful , encouraging words in cards and letters that seemed to arrive" just when I needed it most". Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents;sistersNaomi, Hazel, and Claudia; and brothers Cecil and Willie. She is survived by her son Greg, and daughter, Tami and husband Will, all of East Wenatchee, and her grandson Brandon Hastings of Bend, Oregon, special nephew Ed Hanks of Topenish and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their children. She was a long-time and faithful member of Eastmont Baptist Church, where she leaves behind numerous friends, sisters, and brothers in Christ. "Mom, we miss you dearly, but know with certainty that for you, now, "all is well". Those of us still here have work left to finish. But be assured, the very moment we're finished, we'll be there." A celebration of Bobbie's life, with food and fellowship to follow, will be held at Eastmont Baptist Church on Monday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m.
