Carmelita Horrell

Carmelita Wanda Horrell passed away on April 25, 2024, at Prestidge Colonial Vista in Wenatchee, WA. She was surrounded by her family as she walked into the arms of Jesus. Carmelita was born May 22, 1930, in Kirksville, MO, to Melvin & Myrtle Burkhart Roberts. She was the last of 3 daughters. She attended a 1 room schoolhouse until the age of 16, when the family sold the farm and moved to Chelan, WA, to be closer to her mother’s family. She graduated Chelan High School in 1949 and married Edwin (Eddie) Shipman later that year. They lived in Chelan, WA, on February 6, 1953, they had a daughter Christy. Later they moved to East Wenatchee, WA and on October 13, 1958, they had a son Scott. She worked at Wells and Wade Fruit Co, as an apple packer, she sold Avon, was a housewife, and mother. On July 1, 1974, she lost her loving husband Eddie in the crane accident at Alcoa. On July 30, 1982, she married Archie Horrell, and gained 3 children, Faun, Trent and Barry. She met Archie at a singles group at Free Methodist Church in Wenatchee, WA. They shared many happy memories for 41 years. They loved to travel and one of their favorite places was Depoe Bay on the Oregon coast. Through her life experiences, her faith in Christ sustained her. She was an active member at Bethel Baptist Church, in East Wenatchee, WA. She loved to study about the soon returning of her Savior Jesus Christ, who she was hoping to meet in the air, but Christ took her home instead. Her ministry and talents were creating a “floral room”, and suppling the Church with many beautiful silk flower arrangements. She enjoyed sewing clothes, crafting, shopping, spending time with her friends, and her family. She is survived by her loving husband Archie Horrell. Her daughter Christy and Larry Wardle, son Scott Shipman, Faun Earhart, Trent and Angela Horrell, and Barry Horrell; grandchildren Amber and Charles Pike, Jared and Jessica Wardle, Dustin and Claudia Shipman; 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents, sisters Cleta Mae Mahurin and Loetta Wilson, and husband Eddie Shipman. Viewing will be 10am-12pm, May 21, 2024, at Chapel of the Valley 378 Eastmont Ave, East Wenatchee. Her funeral service will be 11am, May 22, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church 1354 Eastmont Ave, East Wenatchee, Memorials may be made out to Bethel Baptist Church.
