Carole A. Owens

Carole Anne Owens of East Wenatchee, WA, passed away on May 20, 2019. She was born on March 28, 1945, in Birkenhead, England, UK. Carole arrived in New York, in 1948, by ship, the HMS Mauretania at the age of three years old, and was accompanied by her mother, Norah McPherson-Biggs. Through her primary education years, she lived in Goldendale, Spokane, and Seattle, WA. She attended high school at Rainier Beach in Seattle, WA. As a young adult, she lived in Alaska, thoroughly enjoying the experience of the wildlife and wilderness elements. She then came to Wenatchee, WA, to marry her fiancé in 1970, and they began their family in 1971. Carole immensely enjoyed her time spent as a college student at Wenatchee Valley College. Not only serving as a volunteer for several other organizations throughout her children's youth, Carole was very proud to have served as the Boy Scout Day Camp Director for NCW for a term. She also took great pride in coaching soccer for both her daughter and granddaughter. Carole's knack for making connections with people led her to serve in many service occupations in her life of which were: homemaker, pharmacy assistant for the Medicine Shoppe, and office supply saleswoman for Inprint Printing and Wenatchee Office Supply. She went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in nursing homes. Finally, she was a Costco sample person for WDS Food Services, which brought her great joy. In 2009, Carole obtained citizenship after discovering the process had not been completed for her during her journey to the United States back in 1948. This process was quite an accomplishment for Carole, due to the Immigration Law changes at the time. Carole was polarizing with her bright smile and quick wit. She was bold, brilliant, colorful, and had an expansive personality, much like a rainbow. Carole is survived by so many of her beloved friends and family and she will be sorely missed until the time the rainbow reappears and we can be reminded of her and her impression on us. Please join us on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Sunshine Ranch, 2265 Easy St., Wenatchee, WA, for a Celebration of Carole's Life from 2:00-5:00 p.m. More details will be announced in July. In lieu of flowers, Carole, a very fond lover of animals, and proud 'dog mom' of Oliver and Wilson, would have been happy to have donations made on her behalf to either the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society or Okandogs Adoption Coordinators.
