Catharine B. Elliston

Catharine (Hurd) Elliston died peacefully at home December 1, 2009, with her husband and children by her side. She was born November 19, 1933, in Kenmore, ND, where her father was a medical doctor. She was the fourth of seven children. Her family then moved to Great Falls, MT, where she received her early education. She attended Gonzaga University in 1951-1952, and then entered Nursing School for three years and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1955. Catharine met her husband, Donald, at a hospital in Great Falls, MT, where she was nursing in Pediatrics and Donald was a Pharmacist. After they met, she found many excuses to make trips to the pharmacy. They were married at St. Ann's Cathedral in Great Falls, MT in 1955, and made their first home in Spokane, WA. From there, they moved to Reno, NV and then to Wenatchee, on January 1, 1961, where her husband joined the Wenatchee Valley Clinic Pharmacy. Catharine assisted the Public Health Doctor, immunizing children in public schools in the 1960's. She also assisted the nurses at the American Red Cross blood drawings each month. She and her husband are Charter Members of the Wenatchee Swim and Tennis Club (WRAC). She was also a Mayflower descendant. Catharine and her husband and children spent many fun years playing tennis and swimming. Also on the weekends and during vacations, the family spent time at their cabin on Lake Chelan, boating, fishing and enjoying nature. Catharine was preceded in death by her mother; father; infant brother; and beloved sister, Lois Reeves. She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Jean (Daniel) Logsdon, Donna "Gen" Derrick and son, Scott, all of Wenatchee; her grandchildren, Jessica "J.C.", Shawn and Andrew, all of Wenatchee; her sisters and brothers, Mary Ann (Bill) Davidson of Morristown, NJ, Nancy (William) McCullough of Kent, WA, Fritz Hurd of Great Falls, MT and Richard (Cami) Hurd, M.D. of Belt, MT; her brother-in-law, Albert Reeves of Great Falls, MT; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliot Avenue, Wenatchee. A Private Inurnment will be held at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
