Chester A. Collins

Beloved husband, father and grandfather Chester "Chet" Collins passed away into his Gracious Heavenly Father's arms on Jan. 1, 2014. He was born to Wiley and Gracie Collins on Sept 4, 1924 being the youngest of eleven children. He married Ola Glenn in Cashmere, Wa on Sept 5, 1943, a marriage of 70 years. They made their home in Cashmere until moving to East Wenatchee in 1995. Chet loved people and enjoyed life to it's fullest. Getting together with friends and family, playing his guitar and singing was something he enjoyed immensely. He loved the Lord and talked to people about Him whether they wanted to hear it or not. He raised a huge garden every year while living in Cashmere and E.Wenatchee. There was always enough for the whole family plus more which he generously shared with friends and neighbors. He and his wife Ola loved fishing. They bought a small boat and every opportunity they had they would drive to Moses Lake with friends or family and cast away. When the boat became a burden they fished from the bank whenever they had the chance. He worked for Schmitten Lumber Co. in Cashmere during his younger years. Following Schmitten's he diligently worked as a finish carpenter. He became interested in Reflexology around1980 following a hip injury. Lloyd Willoughby, a reflexologist, healed his hip injury he was suffering from and made him a believer in the practice. He became his friend and mentor. He was very excited about this new found natural healing to help people with aches and pains. After a lot of praying and studying, he was licensed as a Reflexologist. He received his license from the International Institute of Reflexology in 1983 and continued his practice until July 2012. God also gave him a gift of dowsing wells and he was well known throughout the valley. While living in Cashmere he was a charter member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for years and taught Sunday School. He then became a member of the Eastmont Baptist church where he also was a Sunday school teacher. He loved his Church and all the people there. He fought the battle of cancer for 25 years. He is survived by his wife Ola of East Wenatchee, one son Darrell and Jan Collins of Monitor, two daughters, Bonnie Bullard of Cashmere and Teresa and Todd Stargel of Ephrata. He had seven grandchildren, seven great grand children , three step grand children and 2 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Thanks to Hospice for their wonderful care. The care at Highline Nursing home was wonderful and many thanks for the support and prayers of Pastor Steve and the many visits from Chet's friends and family. Also , many thanks to the Doctors who cared for Chet . Dr. Deprecio, Dr. Carlson , Dr. Garrison and their nurses. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Eastmont Baptsit Church; 400 S. Kentucky Ave., East Wenatchee.
