Clinton D. Kyhl

Clinton Daniel Kyhl, 54, passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2015 of ALS after facing the disease, like everything else in his life, with courage and grace. He was born on November 29, 1960 in Ft. Rucker, Alabama to Curtis Kyhl and Nancy (Squires) Kyhl and was raised in Iowa. Clint graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Forestry in 1983. Upon moving to Colorado, he met the love of his life, Sharon Abrahamson. They married on December 27, 1986. Clint served over 30 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Washington. From 2009-2013, he was the Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Most recently, he was the Forest Supervisor for the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Jackson, WY. He approached his work with a quiet strength and brought wisdom and creativity to the work he did and the people he served. While Clint loved his work, he was just as passionate about his faith, family and friends. He pursued his true values with a full and open heart. He was happiest outside enjoying the beauty of nature with those he loved. Clint would often say on a beautiful Sunday morning, "Today, I'd rather have the boys out fishing and thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about fishing." He was an avid hunter, fisherman, hiker, skier, wood turner, and wine maker. He recruited family and friends to help with the harvest and treasured time spent drinking the fruits of their labor together. Throughout his life and even in his last days, Clint considered himself to be the luckiest man in the world and felt abundantly blessed. He viewed every day as a gift and leaves us with the charge to live each day to the fullest. Clint is survived by his loving family - his wife, Sharon of Wenatchee; his son, Keith of Steamboat Springs, CO; and his son, Craig of Anchorage, AK. He leaves siblings Cary (Kristi) Kyhl of Grapevine, TX; Kimberly Kyhl of Columbia, CA; and Chris (Ellen) Kyhl of Des Moines, IA. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Clint in death are his father and mother. He was a beloved, humble, and loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He had a sincere love for people and was deeply touched at the outpouring of love and support he received during his illness. An informal gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6-8PM at Saddlerock Presbyterian Church in Wenatchee. A light supper will be served. The Memorial Celebration of Clint's life will be on Saturday, February 28that 2PM, also at Saddlerock. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association or Central Washington Foundation - Hospice.
