David Erickson

David Lee Erickson, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully on March 6, 2023. He was 73 years old. David was born September 9, 1949, in North Dakota. He moved to Washington with his family as a child and resided in the Wenatchee Valley for most of his life, settling in Cashmere. David graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1968 and played baseball while there. He served in the U.S. Marine corp for two years with the rank of Lance Corporal. David worked in logging, construction, etc, and finished his career with the City of Wenatchee, retiring after 20 years of service. While in the Marine Corp he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross Of Gallantry w/Palm, Rifle Marksman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/1* and the Combat Action Ribbon. He married the love of his life Shirley, in 1982, and had been married 41 years at the time of his death. They, however, spent 45 wonderful years together. David loved sports and played men’s softball for many years and later men’s Senior Softball.He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s events, billiards, hunting, fishing and playing cribbage. His family was everything to David and he loved spending time with them. David was an active member in the Mission Creek Community Club and enjoyed getting milk shakes at Doane’s Valley Pharmacy in Cashmere. David was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife Shirley, children Julia O’Donnell (Albert), Jason Erickson (Sarah), grandchildren Tori and Tyler Simon, Robin and Wallace O’Donnell, sisters Mary Countryman, Marcia McCarver (John), Corinne McCarver (Ken), Sheila Countryman-Bean (Ric), brothers Mark Countryman (Sherin), Kevin Countryman (Debbie) many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Chaos. A Gathering with loved ones is scheduled for June 3, 2023 12:00 - 5:00pm at the Mission Creek Community Club, 4724 Mission Creek Rd, Cashmere.
