Debra Renee Gray

Debra "Debbie" Renee Gray, age 63, died peacefully in the arms of her family on August 4, 2018. Debbie was born in Portland, OR, to Earl and Tomi McCoy, living in Oregon until she married Steve Gray in 1974. Debbie was the second of three children, and the only daughter. Her brothers are David and Dan McCoy. During her first 18 years, she enjoyed meeting new people, being creative, competing in pageants, water skiing, laughing, and doing anything that began with fun. Debbie graduated from St. Helens High School in 1973. She attended Ecola Bible School in Cannon Beach, OR, where she met her husband, Steve Gray. After they were married, they moved to Wenatchee, WA, where she gave birth to their oldest son, Aaron, in 1975. Shortly after that, they moved to Oregon, where Steve attended Multnomah College. While in Oregon, their family grew by one, adding a son, Andrew, in 1977. After Andrew was born, they returned to Wenatchee, where she continued with her passion for people and developed life-long friends. Steve and Debbie built a construction business and gave birth to their third child, a daughter, Jessica, in 1980. In 1990, Steve and Debbie moved to the Kirkland, WA, area, where they finished raising their three children and developing many new and lasting friendships, devoting herself to groups like Mom's in Touch, where they would pray faithfully for their children. She was a tireless advocate for having fun and living life to the fullest, with many memories her children will not forget. Around 2007, Steve and Debbie returned to Wenatchee and started to care for her father-in-law and her mother. Debbie leaves us with a legacy of love. She kept short accounts of wrong and served others with unconditional love and sacrifice. She was always willing to try something new and grew through each endeavor. She had a knack for meeting needs through quality time (playing endless games with her grandkids, even though she rarely won), acts of service that were not glamorous but always appreciated, thoughtful gift giving, and always remembering people's needs and wants. Debbie was always one to meet people where they were at and never knew a stranger. She had a unique ability to come alongside others whether they were in the midst of grief or joy. Debbie is survived by her husband, Steve; mother, Thomasina McCoy; father-in-law, Melvin Gray; brothers: Dave and Dan McCoy; three children: Aaron and Shane, Andrew and Anastasiia, and Jessica; seven grandchildren: Kayla, Hannah, Jaedyn, Kellen, Malachi, Selah, Joanna; and nine nieces and nephews. Her Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date, tentatively planned for Sunday, September 16, 2018. Arrangements are by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
