Donald G. Jones

~Don G. Jones died suddenly on October 25, 2015, at his home in Wenatchee, WA. Don was born in Prosser, WA on February 23, 1944, to Dale and Ethel Jones and older brother, Ken, who lived on a small farm in Grandview, WA, where they raised many animals. He had a lifetime of love of dogs. He went to school in Grandview. He always had a green thumb raising African Violets on the farm. He married the love of his life, Cathi Lewis, in 1971. They were married for 44 years. He painted the front of his parent's store, Jones Market, in an American Flag for the Bicentennial in 1976, a picture that appeared on the national news. His family moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1979. He used his artistic gifts in the numerous businesses he operated with his wife, Cathi, creating beautiful landscape designs, amazing holiday and wedding decorations at their floral shop, crafting the perfect cup of coffee at their coffee shops and high end furniture restoration at their upholstery shop. Don loved the Lord from the early age of eight, when he went forward and gave his life to Jesus at a revival meeting in Richland, WA with his brother. Don was a lifelong dreamer. His passionate vision for a better future has left a mark in our community. His love for the Lord and compassion for people led him to be a founding organizer of Missio Dei church in 2009, and a part of the leadership team that created Hand in Hand Immigration Services. He was a loved volunteer that modeled servant leadership at every level. If there was ever something that needed to get done, Don would make it happen. Don has left his artistic fingerprint throughout this valley and his generous compassion will continue to live in the lives he touched for generations to come. ~He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathi Lewis Jones; his brother, Ken Jones (Karen) of Moses Lake, WA; his daughter, Nour Stokes (Brian) of Wenatchee, WA; son, Scott Jones of Arizona; brothers-in-law, Charlie Lewis (Joann) and Carl Lewis (Roxie) all of East Wenatchee, WA; nieces and nephews, Kevin Jones (Debbie), Kraig Jones (Diana), Brandon Lewis (Jodi), Natalie Sligar (Matt), Nathon Lewis, Cameron Lewis (Amanda), Cari Vereb (Rob); and brother, son and best friend of 30 years, Thom Nees (Melanie) of Wenatchee, WA. ~A Celebration of Life Service for Don will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Missio Dei Church, 18 N. Mission St., Wenatchee, WA (next to the Wenatchee World). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Hand in Hand Immigration Services, PO Box 4255 Wenatchee, WA 98807, in honor of its most dedicated volunteer.
