Donna Cockrum

Donna (Young) Cockrum, 79, of Wenatchee and Quincy, died Friday, May 3, 2024. She was surrounded by her loved ones. After rehabilitating from a stroke in 2022 and then shortly thereafter supporting her husband, Jeff, to overcome mesothelioma in 2023, she became ill with her own cancer early in 2024. Her family was devastated by how quickly things progressed but felt fortunate to be with her up through the end to provide love and comfort. Donna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was quick to provide a full-faced smile, laugh loud enough to be heard in the next room, and was always ready for fun especially if it involved dancing, shopping, or visiting with her girlfriends. Many people will also remember that she was a talented beautician and color ‘coach.’ She always wore her bright winter colors and would never be caught without her hair done, lipstick on, or nails polished. She treasured the love of her family: High-school sweetheart husband of 59 years, Jeff; daughter Shannon (Troy) and their children Jakob and Meghan; daughter Schiree (Fred) and their son, Emilio; 98-year-old mother, Florence, and deceased father, Cecil; brother Dennis (Linda) and their children. And she loved the many Schnauzers she had over the years. Donna lived in Wenatchee most of her life but moved to Quincy 12 years ago to reside at the Colockum Ridge Golf Course. Quincy provided both a peaceful country life but also the closeness of an active retirement community where she built relationships with neighbors and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 1, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Colockum Ridge Golf Course, poolside cabana, 17693 Rd 5 NW, Quincy WA. Please wear something bright and cheery and bring stories, laughter, and your own chair. Food and drinks will be provided. Arrangements by Chapel of the Valley.
