Doris Louise Hanan

Doris Louise (Trentini) Hanan, 85, died peacefully at home on July 9, 2016 following a courageous ten-year battle with Alzheimer's and sixty years of her life coping with Type I diabetes. Doris was laid to rest at the Trentini Family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Milford, New Hampshire. Doris was born on March 2, 1931 to Mario and Helga Trentini in Lynn, Massachusetts. After graduating Lynn High School, Doris attended Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. Doris married James Everett Hanan on September 24, 1955, honeymooning in Bermuda. They had over 60 years of a loving relationship, which included several moves with Jim's employer General Electric Corporation, adventurous travels and friends in most every state. Over the years Doris loved to garden, and play tennis, bridge and the stock market. She delighted in singing in the choirs of First Lutheran Church in Lynn, Massachusetts, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manlius, New York, and Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado. Doris enjoyed their neighbors at her homes in Massachusetts, South Carolina, California, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, New York, Colorado, and Washington. She would share the treats from her garden and was the "hostess with the mostest" during her annual Christmas smorgasbord. Doris had a generous heart and enjoyed volunteering for the Assistance League in Denver and the Denver Symphony Guild. She was included in the Denver Social Register for eight years. Doris enjoyed traveling and has visited England, Ireland, France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Israel, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal. She traveled with her husband Jim, sister Ruth and the Ski Meister's Club from Denver, Colorado. Doris survived by husband Jim, three children: Linda (Bill) Dobbins of East Wenatchee, WA; Jeffrey (Laura) Hanan of Charlton, NY; Kristen (Jim) Kennedy of Richardson, TX. She has 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her sister Ruth Froeberg resides in Sunnyvale, CA with her two children and their families. Doris's family will remember her as a dynamic lady. She had a talent for geriatric nursing and a love for her family, friends, and dogs. Doris will be honored in a church service at Celebration Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 21, 2016 in East Wenatchee, Washington. Donations in her name may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA. The family appreciates our exceptional care givers: Renata, Madison, Cady, Jazmine, Rachelle and Carol for their friendship and loving care of Doris.
