Dorothy Geraldine Kuest

Dorothy "Dottie" Kuest passed away on June 9, 2011, with her family by her side, in Wenatchee, WA. Dottie was born in Odessa, WA on June 26, 1925, the daughter of Martha and Emanuel Kuhlman. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1942, and worked in Seattle for Seattle First National Bank for a number of years, where she acquired her bookkeeping and management skills that she relied upon throughout her business career. She married the love of her life, Irvin D. Kuest, also of Odessa, on February 6, 1944, in Spokane. They moved from Seattle to Wenatchee in 1957, where they raised their two children, Lori (Kuest) Farnell of Spokane and Brian Kuest of Quincy. Dottie was employed in Wenatchee for many years as a dental office manager until her retirement. Dottie was the foundation and anchor of her family. She enjoyed many pastimes, including sewing and reading, but her favorite time was the time she spent with her family and friends. She was at home camping at the lake, or cooking a fish or a duck brought home by her husband and her son. She loved shopping with her daughter, or pulling on a slot machine at Mill Bay or in Las Vegas on their annual mother/daughter trip. Her three beloved granddaughters brought her great joy as they blossomed into the beautiful women they are today. Dottie was a gracious and generous woman. She gave of herself freely and was blessed with many friends and a wonderful church home in Grace Lutheran. Her friends and her faith were a constant comfort to her, in good times and bad. She enjoyed good company, a good conversation and an occasional "Mac & Soda" with a twist. Her home was always a welcoming place. She had a hug for anyone who came to visit and her interminable spirit and zest for life made many lasting friendships. During the last few months of Dottie's life, even as she struggled with various health issues, she remained an inspiration. She never complained about her difficulties, choosing instead to live life to the fullest extent she could. When she would get up in the morning, she would say, "I'm still breathing, so God must have something for me to do today." Indeed He did and He still does. Dottie will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Brian Kuest; her daughter, Lori (Kuest) Farnell; their spouses; and her three granddaughters, Martha (Kuest) Koch, Jennifer (Kuest) Tucker and Rebecca (Kuest) Esparza and their spouses; two great-granddaughters; and by her two brothers, Don Kuhlman and Dennis Kuhlman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irvin Kuest. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Dottie's friends, whose love and devotion brought her such great happiness. A Celebration of Dottie's Life will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church, 1408 Washington Street, Wenatchee, WA on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. A Reception will follow at the Church. Remembrances may be offered to the Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
