Elizabeth Tyler

Elizabeth Mae Tyler (Klingenberg, Kundert) February 14, 1934 ~ April 20, 2015 Elizabeth Mae Tyler passed away on April 20, 2015, at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with CMML. (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). Elizabeth was born on Valentine's Day, 1934, in Vancouver, WA., to William Franklin and Mary Marie (Hazzard) Tyler. Soon to be followed by sister, Evelyn and six and a half years later, sister, Wilma. Times were hard in those early years during and after WWII. The family moved often; wherever her dad could find work. They lived in Kent, Yakima, Cashmere, Leavenworth and Monitor among other locations, finally settling in Moses Lake in 1946. When she was younger, Elizabeth loved hiking, camping and fishing with her aunt, Ellen and uncle, Lee. As children, we loved to listen to stories of her adventures and she instilled that love of nature to her offspring. Elizabeth graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1952, marrying her first husband, William Klingenberg at the age of 18, making Wenatchee their home. She continued to work until the birth of their first child, Keith in 1953, followed by the birth of a daughter, Karen in 1955. Elizabeth devoted her life to her children. Participating in PTA and becoming president of the association in the early 60's, along with being a Scout Den Mother, she was also a member of a housewife bowling league. When both of the children were of school age, she started work as a drapery and interior design consultant for Sears. She also attended classes at WVC. Elizabeth remained in the field of interior decoration for a number of years. In 1969, she married Ralph Kundert and in 1970, their son, Kevin was born. Once the marriage failed, she continued to work as an interior designer, but her passions had always been art, literature, and especially the quest for knowledge, which led her to re-enroll at WVC in her mid-40's, where she received her AA degree. She then went on to Central University in Ellensburg and obtained a BA in Psychology, graduating in 1985. She worked for a number of years as Social Service Director, as well as a caregiver, before retiring and moving to the Seattle area to be closer to her youngest grandchild. After diagnosis, she was lovingly cared for by her eldest son, Keith and his wife, Debi. She then made the decision to move back to Wenatchee and lived with her daughter for two years prior to moving to a care facility. Survivors include son, Keith Klingenberg (Debi) of Graham WA; daughter, Karen Terry of East Wenatchee; and son, Kevin Kundert of Kirkland WA. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Dwinell of Bridgeport, WA, Wilma Perry of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Wayne Klingenberg of Graham WA, Parker Klingenberg (Jillian) of Spanaway, WA, Jamie Terry of Cashmere, WA, and Tanner Kundert of Kirkland, WA; and great-grandson, Korbin Klingenberg of Spanaway, WA, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Mandy Robertson, who never gave up on mom. Celeste, who was a true guardian angel, all the nurses in the infusion room (mom loved you all) and to Rick and Vickie, your kindness and love is so appreciated. At her request, there will be no service.
