Elsie B. Turner

Elsie B. Turner, 89, known as "Ma" to many, died peacefully at home on November 12, 2014. She was born May 30, 1925, in Mary Court, ND. After a difficult childhood during the Depression era, she moved to Cashmere, WA in her early 20's. She began working as a waitress at Shippleys Cafe;. She met Roy Turner, the love of her life, and they married on June 28, 1948. They had five children. Elsie was a homemaker until her last child was born and then began her career at Aplets and Cotlets, which lasted 20 years. After retiring, she went back to work at Pacific Pride for three years. She was involved in many groups and activities, including Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, Degree of Honor Society, Herbal Life, and the Tops Weight Loss Group. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, crocheting and embroidery. Her home was always open for family and friends. Many nieces, nephews and family members lived with or had extended visits at her home. She loved and cared for all. Elsie also loved to travel and going for scenic rides. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Edna; twin sisters, Freda and Emma; her brother, Art; and step-grandchild, Noel. She is survived by her husband, Roy; children, Diane (Tom) Bolyard of Cashmere, Ed (Diana) Turner of Cashmere, Jim (Cindy) Turner of St. Mary's, ID, Etta (Shull) deJong of Wenatchee, and Shawn (Revelle) Turner of Cashmere; grandchildren, Cindy (Dennis) Whittlesey, Eric (Marlene) Bolyard, Darcy (Rusty) Carper, Amanda (Jeremy) Main, Alex deJong, Brennan Turner and Corine Turner; and great-grandchildren, Leland, Levi, Elizabeth, Duncan, Connor, Lorynn, Jessie, Cylas and Brody. Also several nieces, nephews, in-laws, out-laws, friends and unofficial adopted children. The family would like to thank Ed, Diana, Marlene and Tracy for their loving care of Mom in her years of decline due to Alzheimer's. A Celebration of Elsie's Life will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the American Legion Post No. 64, 401 Sunset Highway, Cashmere, WA from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Elsie's name. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
