Evelyne Harris

Evelyne was born on September 5, 1932, in Dierks, Arkansas, to Travis and Elma (Ferris) Chambers. She was the fourth of eight children and the only girl. Undoubtedly, this is where her resilience and strength came from throughout her life. At the early age of 17, she moved to the Wenatchee Valley on her own. She married William Carl Flemens, in 1950, and they had four children together, Carolyne Diane (Flemens) Martinez, Carl Lynn Flemens, Terry Jo Flemens, and Dennis Wayne Flemens. She was married to William until he passed away, in 1963. In 1966, she married Lorn Harris, and he brought to their family three children, Becky (Harris) Foster, Lorn Harris, Jr., and Tom Harris. She was married to Lorn until he passed away in 2012. Evelyne was a force to be reckoned with. She loved her family deeply and was the matriarch of the family. Her passing will leave a deep void for all who loved her. She prided herself on her incredible work ethic. She began working at the age of 6 in the cotton fields with her family and continued to work, until she retired after 40 years with Lamb Weston, at the age of 78. During her years of being full time employed, she and her husband also owned and ran a cherry orchard. She was a proud member of the Lost Cherokee Tribe. Evelyne leaves behind a large legacy, her daughter, Diane Martinez; son, Dennis (Gina) Flemens; step-son, Tom (Betty) Harris; step-daughter, Becky (Larry) Foster; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great grand children; her beloved niece, Linda (Jack) Brown, who lived with her growing up; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyne was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Elma Chambers; her two sons, Carl and Terry Flemens; her spouses, William Flemens and Lorn Harris; step-son, Lorn Harris, Jr., son-in-law, David Martinez; and seven brothers: Noah, Bud, Andy, Edward, Ray, Dillard, and Miloe Chambers. She will forever be in our hearts. Evelyne’s family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful nurses and CNA’s, that cared for her so lovingly, the last few weeks of her life at Confluence Hospital.
