Gerald L. Trandum

Gerald "Jerry" Trandum, 67, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Born July 8, 1944, to Walt and Nell Trandum, Jerry was raised in the Seattle area and in 1962, met the love of his life, Barb (Willis). The couple were married in 1965, and made their homes in Seattle and Kirkland, where their two daughters, Kelle (Rob) Brown of Wenatchee and Kerri (Shawn) Coffman of Athena, OR, were born. In 1975, the family moved to Spokane and then in 1979, to Wenatchee. Jerry was employed in the beverage industry for many years and retired last March from his dream job for the Washington State Lottery. Jerry was awarded throughout his working career as an exemplary employee and was the top state lottery salesman for four years in a row. A love for his community led Jerry to the Wenatchee Applarians, where he enjoyed traveling the Pacific Northwest, representing our valley at many festivals. Jerry was Chancellor in 1995, and last year was recognized for his service and participation by the Apple Blossom Festival. A humble and compassionate man, Jerry adored his family and was much loved by family and friends. He lived in the moment and appreciated each day for what it offered. He was generous to his family and friends and treated strangers with kindness and humor. Proud and supportive of his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed all their activities and teaching them about his love and respect of the outdoors. A "do it yourself" guy, mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber and painter, he approached each project methodically and with tenacity. Jerry was appreciated as a "doer" and "fixer". Throughout his life, Jerry's passions were his family, camping, fishing and hunting. Jerry was a man with dignity, charm, integrity and a great sense of humor. Jerry is survived by a brother, Walt Trandum, of Wheeler, OR; grandchildren, Allyson and Derek Brown of Wenatchee and Taryn, Megan and Amie Jo Coffman of Athena, OR; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Russ and Don Trandum. Jerry's family will miss him immensely and cherish the memories of life with him. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials are sent in Jerry's name to Central Washington Hospital Hospice, 903 Red Apple Road, Wenatchee, WA 98801. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
