Glenn R. Lindell

Glenn Richard Lindell East Wenatchee, WA Our cherished Father, Husband, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away November 10, 2012, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was born July 6, 1929, to Bert and Pearl Lindell in Wenatchee and was a lifelong resident of East Wenatchee. Glenn graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1947, and served as Senior Class President. He studied at Washington State College for two years and then worked for the USDA and Great Northern Railroad in Wenatchee. In 1952, he finished his degree in Horticulture and applied to the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School. After receiving his commission, he was based at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, near Laguna Beach, CA. In 1955, he met his future wife, Dorothy and they married in Laguna Beach after he was discharged at the rank of Captain. Upon returning to Wenatchee, he began a lifelong career as an orchardist with his Dad at the family farm, near what is now Rocky Reach Dam. Throughout his career, he owned several other orchards, always passing along his strong work ethic and silent, but strong, values to his sons. Like many farmers, he was talented beyond raising fruit. He built all of the family homes, rebuilt farm equipment, and learned to fly. He was elected to the Eastmont School Board, served on the Douglas County Board of Equalization, and was active in Eastmont Jaycees and Kiwanis. Through every aspect of his life, he enjoyed building friendships and spending time with his family. Whether it was hunting near the Methow, clamming and crabbing at Hood Canal, or spending time at the cabin he and Dorothy built together at Lake Chelan, it almost always involved family and friends. He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Dorothy; and his sons, Tom (Kathy) of Cashmere, Jeff (Elena) of Auburn, Roger of SeaTac and Michael (Kristin) of East Wenatchee. He is also survived by grandchildren, Cori, Laura, Cole, Ian, Megan and Mason. Also Bruce and Venny. He is survived by brother, Bob (Shirley) of East Wenatchee; and sisters, Pat (Tom) Taylor of Mt. Vernon and Sharon Anderson of Wenatchee. His sister, Marian Longacre, preceded him in death. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee.
