Helen Geraldine Rich

Helen "Gerre" Rich went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, with her family by her side. Gerre was born and raised in Wenatchee, WA and for the past 14 months resided at The Maple Lodge in Wenatchee. She was born to Frank and Cora (Hobson) Sonntag on October 13, 1930, and had two older brothers, Frank and Bob. She married Don Rich, May 20, 1950. They enjoyed traveling to the Oregon coast with their RV and had many fun adventures boating at the Lake Chelan Yacht Club, as lifetime members. They also spent three winters in Arizona. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother of two, grandmother of three and great- grandmother of nine. She was a gracious role model and was extremely proud of her two children, Randi and Vicki. She expressly adored all of her grandchildren and kept track of them keenly. She was a loyal, compassionate friend and enjoyed volunteering at different community events in the Wenatchee Valley. Her smile was contagious, her favorite color was "red" and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. One of her most momentous occasions was her 80th birthday celebration, where family and friends near and far attended. It was truly her Celebration of Life on that day. In 1956, she joined the Wenatchee Court #11 Order of Amaranth, where she attended and held the office of Royal Matron five times through the years. She also served many years on the Masonic Center Board of Trustees. Gerre was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Don. She is survived by: son, Randi (Cheryl) Rich, Spokane, WA; daughter, Vicki Rich, Wenatchee, WA; three grandchildren: Scott (Lynn) Rich, Victoria, BC; Kelly (Roze) Rich, Spokane, WA and Stephanie (Scott) Bontrager, Moscow, ID; nine great-grandchildren: Madisyn, Andrew, Jacob and Samuel Rich, Victoria, B.C.; Nolan and Ella Rich, Spokane, WA; and Colby, Logan and Riley Bontrager, Moscow, ID. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 850 N. James Avenue, East Wenatchee, WA, followed by a reception at The Wenatchee Masonic Center, 811 N. Chelan Ave., Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society or Central Washington Hospice Services. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
