Irene Watson

Irene Watson was born June 9, 1928 in Leavenworth, WA to Fayven and Gladys (Day) Bayne. She passed away Sept. 26, 2014 at Riverwest Assisted Living in Wenatchee, WA. She spent her whole life in the cities of Leavenworth, East Wenatchee and Wenatchee. She was the oldest of three children. Irene married Bill Canaday on July 23, 1946 and they had one daughter. They divorced soon after. She then met the love of her life, Clarence (Casey) Watson at a dance in Plain, WA and were married on May 20, 1949. Casey and Irene had a son and 2 daughters. Irene worked for Safeway, Larson's Drug Store, Peshastin Fruit Growers as a packer, Osco Drugs and finally for Eastmont Pharmacy in their post office. She retired from there when she developed Macular Degeneration and could no longer see well enough to do the job. Irene loved to shop, go to casinos with the Senior Center and travel. She and Casey took several cruises to Alaska and through the Panama Canal. They also made several trips to Branson, MO and Hawaii. In her last years she loved to dance every Saturday night at the Leavenworth Senior Center. As her children were growing up she always made plenty of extra food because it was unusual to not have extra kids at the table. She loved having all the kids hang at her house. Irene is survived by her daughters Sherrie Schmitt of Leavenworth; Pam (Ed) Reinfeld, Wenatchee; Melinda (Rick) Haslam, Duncan B.C. and a son Terry (MaLou) Watson, Daytona Beach, FL. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Bayne of Leavenworth, John (Shirley) Bayne, Wenatchee; 10 grandchildren 7 step grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Casey, grandson Joel Schmitt, parents and sister-in-law Delores Bayne. The family wishes to thank Riverwest for their patient and loving care of our mom. A celebration of life will be held at Riverwest Assisted Living 900 Western Avenue in Wenatchee Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society or Riverwest Activity Fund may be made in her name. We will miss your daily calls Mom!!
