James Lawrence Lyon

James Lawrence "Jim" Lyon February 28, 1942 - January 28, 2014 James Lawrence Lyon, beloved husband , father and grandfather, passed away in Wenatchee, WA. January 28, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Born the eldest son to Verl and Elizabeth Lyon in Twisp, WA. The family moved to East Wenatchee, WA. when Jim was very young, he resided in the Wenatchee valley until his passing. Jim graduated from Eastmont High school in 1960. He was a true "Wildcat " bleeding Columbia blue and red always. He married the love of his life Andrea "Candy " Lyon on Dec. 12, 1964. Living and celebrating their lives together for 49 beautiful years. They soon started a family with Scott being born in 1966 and Cory in 1968. He truly loved and cherished all the years with his family. Jim was remembered by many for the years he played fastpitch softball in the valley, his dedication to coaching his sons and the many other kids thru the years in youth sports. His presence at all high school sporting events will be remembered by many. Jim spent countless hours in the outdoors hunting, fishing and camping with all of his family and friends. Jim was especially fond of the Stray Gulch area of the Colockum wildlife area hunting elk. It was truly his home away from home. His passion for gardening , landscaping , cooking and canning was second to none. He will forever be remembered for his special yearly gifts of smoked turkeys, jerky and pickles. Jim had the ability to walk into a room and instantly make new friends for life. His smile and laugh was what made him such a charismatic and memorable man and will be missed by many. Jim worked at Alcoa, Burns Distributing, Wenatchee Sand and Gravel and Morrill Asphalt. He retired as a Local 760 Teamster. After retirement he continued to drive truck during seasonal work for the Bromily Ranch during wheat harvest and Andy Feil Orchards hauling fruit. Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years Candy Lyon, son and daughter in law Scott Lyon and Darlene Thorpe of East Wenatchee, son Cory Lyon of Wenatchee, WA. , brother Verl Lyon of Wenatchee, WA. and sister Elizabeth "Liz" Melton of Wenatchee, WA. As well as his grandchildren Jaryd Lyon , Chase Lyon , Tyler Lyon , Baylee Lyon , Brianne Thorpe , Colby Thorpe and Shaylynn Thorpe. Jim will truly be missed by so many for his amazing giving ways..... A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Crossroads; 1301 Maple St., Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, Jim would prefer memorial donations be made to The Humane Society, American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
