Janis Anne Eller

Janis Ann Eller, age 84, died in Wenatchee, WA, on Thursday, February 22, 2018, after an extended illness. Janis was born August 17, 1933, in Raymond, WA, to Waldo and Ann Roberts. The Roberts family then moved to Centralia, WA, where Janis graduated in 1951. Following high school, Janis briefly attended Washington State College (WSU), and then transferred to Eastern Washington State College (EWU) where she graduated with an Education degree in 1955. At Eastern, she met Bob Eller and they were married in Centralia on August 13, 1955. Following their marriage, Bob and Janis lived briefly in Reardan and Connell, WA, before relocating to Wenatchee in 1960. Janis worked as an elementary teacher in Wenatchee School District for 22 years, until retiring in 1988. The majority of her career was spent at Lewis and Clark Elementary where she was primarily a kindergarten teacher. During her career at Lewis and Clark, she enjoyed working with many outstanding students as well as a host of outstanding colleagues on the Lewis and Clark faculty. Following her retirement, Janis and Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and friends. Her travels took her to most of the 50 U.S. states, as well as many countries in Europe. Janis also enjoyed spending the winter months in Yuma, AZ, for nearly 20 years. Janis is survived by her husband, Bob Eller; and her three children: Cary Eller of Wenatchee, WA, Lorrie (Marty) Cochran of Manson, WA, and Jeff (Lori) of Bellingham, WA. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Samantha Eller, Heather Eller, Stefanie Eller, Austin Cochran, Blake Cochran, Cole Cochran, Hayden Eller, and Travis Eller. Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Ann Roberts; and her brother, Robert "Butch" Roberts. The Eller Family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Bonaventure Assisted Living facility in East Wenatchee for their outstanding care and concern for Janis. Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church, 535 Okanogan Ave., Wenatchee, WA. Relatives and friends are also welcome to attend a reception following the service, at the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly requesting donations be made in Janis's name to: Alzheimer's Association / Western and Central Washington State Chapter, ATTN: DEVELOPMENT DEPT., Alzheimer's Association, North Tower, 100 West Harrison Street, N200, Seattle, WA, 98119.
