Jon Allan Keating

Jon Allan Keating, incredibly loved Brother, Son, Father, Uncle and Fiancé passed from this world on Friday Sept. 27, 2013. Jon fought a courageous battle with stomach cancer. He would comfort those who were sorrowful for him and his situation. He was a true inspiration to his family and friends. Jon loved playing and listening to music, visiting friends & family at Starbucks & marketing his unique creations of handmade glass jewelry in the Leavenworth Park. He also loved hiking, sailing, beachcombing, photography, and gadgets. All of his life Jon was a collector of the most interesting things...unique pieces of art, rocks, vortex marbles, guitars and other cool stuff. Of all the great things that Jon collected, the most important were his friends. Jon loved and cared for all people and was most generous with his possessions. Jon taught many of us about true generosity. Jon was born on May 21st, 1959, to C. Allan & Marilyn Keating. He is survived by his son Marlon Keating, his mother Marilyn (Rex) DeChenne, Fiancé Becky Mullin, brothers Jim (Kimberly) Keating & Corey (Jeanette) Keating, sister Karen (Alan) Vivanco, nieces Kristen Keating and AmiraVivanco, stepsisters Penny (Rob) Peart and Cyndi (Jim) Timboe, and their families. His dog Anya brought him much joy, comfort and companionship. For much of his life Jon lived in the Wenatchee area, but he also put roots down in Alaska, on the Oregon Coast and in Arizona. Jon spent about 15 years working for BNSF Railroad as a welder and equipment operator. In his younger years Jon learned to work as a silver and goldsmith. He worked part time doing fabrication of jewelry using precious metals and stones. In recent years Jon taught himself to work with colorful boro glass. Jon created incredible glass jewelry that was uniquely beautiful and very popular. We're missing you Jon! Services will be held Thursday October 3rd, at 2pm at New Song Community Church, 1127 Grant Road, East Wenatchee. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Central Washington Hospital Transitional Care Unit. Jon was so appreciative of the great care that was given to him while he was a patient.
