Joyce Coy

Joyce E. Coy (Jo) 75, of Wenatchee, left us to be with the Lord and our Dad "Wally" on August 20th, 2023. She passed at home with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born September 21st, 1947 in Monette, Arkansas to Leroy R. Fry and Evelyn C. Fry. She is survived by her son Darren R. Coy and his spouse Denise L. Coy of East Wenatchee, her daughter Denise R. Coy-Drake and spouse Scott T. Drake of Wenatchee. She is also survived by 3 siblings, her sister Norma Tate, and her brothers, Jerry and Jerald Fry of Wenatchee. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Dustin Coy and spouse Samantha of Chelan, Derek Coy and Rachael of East Wenatchee, Colton Drake and spouse Tyana of Quincy, Carmen Drake and fiance Manny of Rock Island as well as 10 great-grandchildren; Adrienne, Natalie, Preston, Byron, Warren, Wesley, Eastynn, Ezra, Cora, and Lydia. Joyce is preceded in death by Wally, her life long husband of 49 years, her father Leroy, her mother Evelyn, her brothers Jim, Larry and Elden Fry, and her sister Debbie, and great grandchild Noah. At 11 years old Joyce started work, chopping and picking cotton. And when she turned 13 to 14 years old she was driving the large tractor with a long trailer of cotton. She worked, played and helped her mom take care of her younger siblings. By the year of "65" recently married to the love of her life Wally, She and Wally borrowed Wally's brother Gary's gold colored "55" chevrolet (less the back seat, they left in the yard) and followed her family to Washington state. When they arrived in Wenatchee, they immediately went to work picking fruit. Next Joyce, went to work at the Apple City Dairy Mart, formerly known as the Barn on the bottom of Ferry St. Wenatchee. She then bought Ramseys Ice cream parlor and turned it into the Wenatchee Donut Shop located at 849 South Mission St. Wenatchee. She turned it into a successful business employing her Mom, family, and special friends. In the mid 80's she expanded and purchased the Downtowner restaurant at 200 South Wenatchee, Ave. and operated it for about a year. Joyce then purchased the business located at 8 No. Wenatchee Ave. The Old Brick Cafe and turned it into The Restaurant Bake Shop & Lounge. A little later, she bought the (Bardin) building and doubled her restaurant footprint by taking over the business of 6 No. Wenatchee Ave. and had her maintenance man Wally cut a wide doorway into the 4 layers of brick between the two spaces. She continued operation of the Restaurant Bakeshop & Lounge until their retirement in june of 2007. Joyce loved and cared for her family and special friends, She expected hard work and worked hard, to the end. YOU ARE THE GREATEST ! WE LOVE YOU- WE MISS YOU- AND CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN
