Juanita Mae Granger February 3, 1930 ~ June 22, 2015 Juanita Mae Granger, beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015, at Bonaventure Senior Living Facility in East Wenatchee, WA, surrounded by family and friends. Juanita Mae Cleek was born in Orofino, ID, on February 3, 1930, to Lawrence and Marjorie Cleek. She had a younger brother, Larry. When she was 12 years old, her father died. She and her mother, (a school teacher), and brother moved several times during her childhood. The family moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1946. Even though it was difficult to start a new school as a junior, Juanita's friendly personality won her many friends and a spot on the cheerleading squad. After graduation, she attended Whitman College, where she joined the college thespian troupe and was the member of a sorority. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Patrick Edward Voege, who was also attending Whitman as an engineering student. Patrick (who was employed for the State Highway Department) and Juanita moved to Wenatchee and started a family. They had three children, James, Marlee, and Tamara. In 1961, they moved to Ephrata, WA. In 1966, Patrick died suddenly of a heart attack. In 1968, Juanita married Bill Granger. She and Bill had one son, Leslie Scott Granger, who was born on Marlee's 15th birthday! Juanita and Bill moved to Burbank, WA for several years. After Scott graduated from Burbank High School, they moved back to Ephrata. Bill passed away in 2003. Juanita was an active member of the Ladies of Elks for most of her adult life, where she served as president, treasurer, and secretary. She enjoyed making ceramic pieces for her yard and as gifts for family and friends. She also loved to embroider. One of Juanita's passions was reading. She particularly enjoyed historical works and loved sharing what she learned, which often led to wonderful conversations. In other words, Juanita enriched lives both emotionally and intellectually. Juanita will always be remembered for her kindness and generous heart. Juanita was so easy to talk to and always lent a listening ear. Young and old were attracted to her warm personality and found her company pure joy. They often came to her for advice and encouragement, which she was always willing to provide. Soon after moving to Bonaventure Senior Living Facility in 2013, she quickly won the hearts of the residents and staff alike, which was a testimony to her true character. Juanita is survived by her brother, Larry Cleek of Wenatchee; four children, James Lewis Voege of Malaga, Marlee Frances Voege (Dubnow) of Seattle, Tamara Joye Voege (Yedinak) of Wenatchee, and Leslie Scott Granger of Ephrata; as well as 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Juanita is sorely missed. We love you, Mom and Grandma! Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at Bonaventure Senior Living Facility, 50 29th Street NW, East Wenatchee, 98802, with a family gathering following in the multi-purpose room after the memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital of Spokane. Juanita will be laid to rest in Soap Lake, WA next to her husband, Bill Granger.
