Judith Ann Barney

Judy Ann Barney died Tuesday, May 24th, 2016, at the age of 75. She died from complications of cancer but passed peacefully in her daughter's home surrounded by all of her children. She was beloved by her family and friends. Judy was born on November 11, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA to Donald and Barbara Montgomery. She was the oldest of six girls. She graduated in 1958 from La Puente High School in Los Angeles, where her favorite class was choral. She attended college in Los Angeles at Mt. SAC, where she earned her AA degree. She transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. At BYU she met and married the late Reid "Pete" Barney. Together they were part of a square dance club and later enjoyed camping and boating, while raising their children. Judy had a knack for making fun and unique cakes for her kids' birthdays. Judy was fortunate to be a full time homemaker for most of her children's growing-up years. She later worked in the cafeteria at the Provo Utah LDS temple. Hobbies include knitting and crocheting. Judy made baby afghans for many of her nieces and nephews and all her grandchildren. She made and donated dozens of lap blankets to local nursing homes. She also had a great love of reading. For the past ten years, Judy served weekly in the Seattle LDS temple and enjoyed serving with friends and family. Judy lived in California, Utah, and Washington during her life. She spent the last years in Marysville WA, and enjoyed spending time eating lunch at a lake or near the water. Judy had a great love of water, lighthouses and the mountains. She was part of an annual tradition of camping at Ohanepacosh in Mt. Rainier National Park with her young kids and later with many of her grandchildren. Judy was proceeded in death by her parents and her former spouse, Reid Barney. She is survived by her four children: Maria (Bret) Barnes of East Wenatchee WA, Deanna (Ian) Campbell of Lakeland FL, Morgan Barney of Newcastle WA, and Dawna (Frank) Kennedy of Sarasota FL; her thirteen grandchildren: Garrett, Warren, Jarred, RyAnna, Anson Barnes; Tara, Casey, Wyatt Campbell; and Julia, Kayla, Reid, Chase, Sarah Kennedy; her sisters: Nancy (Gary) Ray; Sue Smith; Donna (Scott) Bischoff; Debbie (David) Lund; Terry Montgomery; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Visitation of Judy and Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday May 31, 2016 at the LDS Church, 667 10th Street NE in East Wenatchee, with graveside dedication to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
