Larry McDonald

Larry Duane McDonald, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 21, 2026. Larry was born in Lebanon, Oregon, to Charles and Evelyn McDonald, on May 16, 1943. He initially attended school in Selleck, Washington. When his family moved to Kent, Washington, he attended and graduated from Kent-Meridian High School. Larry met the love of his life, Sherrie LaFayette, when they were attending Edison Technical School in Seattle. They were married at the Community Log Church in Brewster, Washington, on September 17, 1966. They have a son, Larry Mark McDonald, and a daughter, Kimberly Ann McDonald. He and Sherrie made their home in Kent, Washington, where they attended East Hill Baptist Church. It was there that Larry gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized. He worked heartily for his Lord, serving many years in the church as Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, and Usher. Larry was an excellent mechanic, specializing in heavy diesel trucks and trailers. He worked his entire career in the Kent, Washington area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his sister's family at Copalis Beach, where they dug clams, and he fished the surf. He also fished for salmon on Whidbey Island while visiting family. During winter, Larry enjoyed snowmobiling at Conconully, Stampede Pass, and Mission Ridge with family and friends. Upon retirement, Larry moved his family to East Wenatchee to be closer to family. They spent winters in Sun City West. Arizona. where he was able to use his remodeling skills to make improvements on their southern home. Larry was a very energetic man who was always working on a project. He also enjoyed helping his brother-in-law during apple harvest in Omak. Larry is survived by his wife, Sherrie; children, Mark and Kimberly of the home; his sister, Sandra McAmmond; sisters-in-law Bonnie Coppock, Ruth Ann Paslay (Ron); brother-in-law Frank LaFayette (Lisa); and many nieces and nephews.
