Mary Lattimer

Mary Lou Lattimer Wenatchee, WA Mary was born as the fourth child to Lonnie and Erie Roberts. She grew up and was educated in Cashmere, WA. After graduation, Mary moved to Seattle, WA, where she was employed by Hartford Insurance Company and continued her education through secretarial, accounting and insurance classes. Her employment in Seattle included Charles Hadley Company and Burroughs Corporation. Mary returned to the Wenatchee Valley to marry Robert George and commenced employment with Chelan County Public Utility District. They enjoyed many years learning to ski at Mission Ridge and boating on Lake Chelan and the San Juan Islands with friends from the Lake Chelan Yacht Club. After the loss of her husband, Robert, in 1984, Mary continued her employment with the utility company. During her tenure with the "district", Mary worked in a secretarial pool, secretary in purchasing and treasurer's departments. The last 13 years were spent as Administrative Secretary to the General Manager and Clerk to the Board of Commissioners. In 1986, she married Carl Lattimer, who was also an employee of the utility company and the two retired from their positions on December 31, 1988. Retirement gave them time to spend with the three grandchildren. The grandchildren always enjoyed hearing stories about themselves stored in grandma's mind. Travel was limited due to care giving for Mary's parents, so she decided to learn to golf and, in the venture, she made and retained many friends. After Mary's parents passed on, Mary combined golf and travel. In 1993, Mary and Carl took a fun filled trip to Germany, where they toured the country by car during Oktoberfest. Mary and Carl also enjoyed yearly winter trips to Palm Springs, CA, where they played golf, met up with friends from Wenatchee and just relaxed and had fun. Life blossomed again through the lives of the great-grandchildren, Livie Rae and Jaxson James. Mary was a very loving and giving wife, a wonderful, generous and caring mother, and a best friend. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so very much and never let them want for anything. They were the light of her life and she enjoyed every moment with them. She had more love, hugs and kisses to give, and they were endless. Mary leaves her loyal husband, Carl; stepdaughters, Teri Woods and Vicky Sutherland of East Wenatchee, Peggy Franklin of Everett, WA, Lynnette Logan of Alaska and Karen Foland of Leavenworth, WA; grandchildren, Lane Woods of East Wenatchee, Stephanie (Doug) Miller of Moses Lake, WA, Jamie (Seth) Tolliver of East Wenatchee; and great-grandchildren, Livie Rae and Jaxson James Tolliver. Surviving siblings are Elva Fife of Albany, OR, Ray Roberts of Cashmere and Donna Purcell of Springfield, MO. Also left are her many golf sisters, with whom she spent many enjoyable hours and trips. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lonnie and Erie; husband, Robert; sister, Elsie Jones; brother, Merie Roberts; and great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Tolliver. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Concluding Services and Entombment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum in East Wenatchee. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W. or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
