Mary Robins

Mary Louise Robins, 85, passed away May 26, 2016, at Colonial Vista Assisted Living in Wenatchee, Washington. She was born July 27, 1930, fifth of seven children, in Melbourne, Arkansas to James and Phrona Hames. Louise married the love of her life, Robert D Robins, on May 3, 1947, at Oxford Arkansas. Together they purchased the only Café in Oxford and managed it for a year before moving to Washington State, settling in Wenatchee. She had worked many years as an accountant/bookkeeper for Cedergreen Foods, I.D. Wares, IRS and Town Toyota. Louise and R.D. had two children; Jim born in 1950 (he is the oldest...really), and Melissa born in 1962. Melissa was the joy of her mother's life. Louise thought Jim was ok too! Louise was active in The Nazarene Church most of her life. She was a Sunday school teacher, Caravan leader, sang in the choir, and helped during summer vacation bible school. Amongst her prized possessions was a document she drafted as part of research she did on her family ancestory. She gave her family an insight to her life more valuable than the facts and figures everyone knows. This is written for everyone who knew her and her sense of humor. In her words... Brothers can be a pain in the (you know what) sometimes. Terry(brother) was home on leave and Truby (brother)was still living at home and I was on the Girl's Basketball team. Some smart fellow asked them to be the officials for the tournament. To make a long story short, I didn't get to play much since the boys fouled me out during all of those games. To this day I still think I was the only one they watched during all those games. Of course, according to them, this wasn't so. Rhudyne (sister), decided to cook for the boys a good breakfast and made hot biscuits and the whole bit. She put a dish of butter on the table to eat with the biscuits but it turned out that it wasn't butter but lard. They didn't notice the difference until mother asked Rhudyne where all the lard had gone that she had in the same dish. Claude (uncle and step dad), and Mother kept in touch and in 1950 were married. He and mom were so happy the few years they had together and we all loved him dearly. Virginia (sister), became our sister and we have loved her dearly all these years. She was so good to mother and all of us. Dad was always bringing home treats for us kids. Mother would put some in a sack for Barb (sister), and me. I would be real saving with mine but Barb would eat hers as fast as she could, then chase me around the house with a stick trying to get some of mine. She may have been tiny when she was born but as she got older she carried a big stick. I can remember that night very well (when Jim (brother) was born). I was almost seven and Barb was 5. The first time I saw him I thought he was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. As he got older his looks improved a lot. Louise will be greatly be missed by her family and friends. Louise was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brothers Terry, Truby and Jim, sister Rhudyne. She is survived by sisters Virginia and Barbara, children Jim(Linda) and Melissa (Bob) Grandchildren Hollie(Tim), Kelley (Scott),Spencer and Kerrigan.
