Meriel F Wilson

Meriel, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, left this Earth on the morning of January 26, 2009, to go home to Heaven. Meriel, 74, was born December 13, 1934, in Port Angeles, WA to parents Resin "Reese" Sr. and Zelma (Goodman) Wyman. Meriel was the youngest of their children who lived to adulthood. Soon after Meriel's birth, the family moved to Vashon Island, where she graduated from high school. She married Jack Wilson of West Plains, MO, who was a career Army man. They were living at the old Nike Site, military base on Vashon, when their first daughter, Deborah "Debbie", was born. While traveling the globe with the Army, Jacqueline "Jackie" was born in Omaha, NE and Ellyn was born in Frankfurt, Germany. Meriel was wholly devoted to her husband and daughters and enjoyed being a homemaker. When the family settled in East Wenatchee, WA after Jack's retirement from the Army in 1971, Meriel worked for a time as a packer/sorter at Taplett's and Chief Wenatchee (formerly Wenoka) fruit packing sheds. Upon Jack's passing in 1998, Meriel relocated to Western Washington to be near her three daughters and extended family. More than anything else in her life, Meriel treasured her relationships with family and friends. When people came to visit, her door was always open. The annual Wyman-Goodman family reunion was an event she almost never missed and for which she was packed and ready to go weeks in advance. Even in her final days at her Merrill Gardens apartment, she cherished every visit and phone call from friends and family. Meriel is survived by daughters, Debbie and Jackie of Snohomish, WA and Ellyn of Lake Forest Park, WA; sons-in-law, Kerry of Snohomish and Brian of Lake Forest Park; brothers, Reese of Graham, WA and Elwyn "Bud" of Port Orchard, WA; sisters, Wilmetha "Willy" of Puyallup, WA and Peggy of Tonasket, WA; sisters-in-law, Wanda and Yoshi of Wenatchee, Edith of Graham and LoraJean of Port Orchard; grandchildren, Joshua, Ryan and Emily of Snohomish, Christopher of Lind, WA and Jack and Emma of Lake Forest Park; aunts, Agnes of Kennewick, WA and Doris of Port Angeles, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Susan; her husband; her great-grandson, Michael; her great-niece, Naomi Nonie; her niece, Nancy; uncles Linn, Gifford, Kermit, Clem, Merton and Jack; and aunts, Marian, Nadine, Lucille and Shirley. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee. Memorial contributions may be made to Wenatchee First Assembly of God. Arrangements are under the care of Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
