Ordell "Gus" Gustafson

Ordell “Gus” Gustafson, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his wife & girls. He was a loving husband, father and papa. Gus was born on December 19, 1945, to Raymond & Helen Gustafson, in Hudson, South Dakota. He joined the Navy in 1962, which took him to Costa Mesa, California, where he met the love of his life, Norma-Ann “Sue” Murch. Gus & Sue were married on June 22, 1968, and later relocated to the beautiful Wenatchee Valley, where they made this their home and began their family. Gus spent many mornings fishing on the Columbia River and hunting in the hills of the Entiat Valley, where he created many wonderful memories with some of his best friends. As a family, they spent many summers on Whidby Island fishing, crabbing and enjoying the Puget Sound. Gus worked for Tree Top for most of his career and retired in the fall of 2005. Gus & Sue began their retirement by traveling south to play ball and enjoy the sunshine in sunny California. They made this their “home away from home”. Gus loved playing softball and created many friendships over the years. He played in The Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah as well as many other tournaments in and out of town. On and off the field, Gus was known for his kind spirit and for being a friend to everyone. He always put his family first and would help anyone who needed a hand. Gus is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma-Ann “Sue”, daughters Andrea Roberts (Jon), Alicia Smith (Troy), grandchildren Alexis (Grant), Zach, Elsie, Cloe, Ava, and Keaton, and great-grandchildren Rhett & Rhory. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Sorensen of Sioux Falls, SD, and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond & Helen, brother Charles, sisters-in-law Sandy & Karen and brothers-in-law Tom & Lloyd. Gus’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at Eastmont Baptist Church, 400 South Kentucky Ave, East Wenatchee. Arrangements in the care of Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Gus’s honor to The American Cancer Society for MDS or donate blood at your local Red Cross. We want to thank the staff at Confluence Health Medical/Oncology Unit and the Hospice Team for providing such amazing care for our beloved Husband, Father, and Papa.
