Peggy Marie Ford

Peggy Marie Ford passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Life Center of Kennewick, WA, surrounded by her family. She was born to Clyde and Hazel Voorhies in Ontario, OR, on September 15, 1937. Peggy married Doug Harris in 1954, and later, Dean Ford. Together, with their extended families, Dean and Peg raised seven daughters. Peggy enjoyed hunting and fishing, but music and dancing were her passions. Country music and Elvis were her favorites. Peggy loved anything to do with Elvis and even donned her favorite Elvis costume at Halloween. She especially loved to jitterbug with her older brother, Ted. Peg was also well known for her famous "camel walk". Peggy worked as a waitress for many years in Wenatchee, WA, and later, moved to Helena, MT, to manage the Night Life Casino. She retired at age 69, on her birthday, and moved back to Washington to live with her daughter, Julie, in Lacey, WA. Peggy returned to Wenatchee in 2008, and moved in with her sister, Bonnie Mitchell. During their nine years together, both sisters enjoyed gambling and the slots, and took several trips to Las Vegas, and a cruise to Mexico. They listened to music constantly and watched all sports on television. The ladies were also fond of hosting informal "happy hours" for visitors and family. Many stories, memories, laughs, and tears were shared with family and friends. We are so thankful for Aunt Bonnie's love and generosity over those years. Peggy is survived by her sister, Bonnie Mitchell; daughters: Diane Harris, Della Harris-Eby, and Julie Hurlbert; grandchildren: Sammy Bowling, Natalie Hook, Dillon O'Connor, Cody and Kyle Tamayo, JoAnn and Michael Hurlbert; and five great-grandchildren; and her extended Mitchell family. She was preceded in death by her dad, Clyde Voorhies; mother, Hazel Crockett; brother, Ted Voorhies; sister, Kay Moore; and of course, her daughter, Jill Harris. Peggy was so proud of all her girls and was hearbroken when her youngest daughter, Jill, lost her life at the tender age of 15. She devoted her life to her girls: Diane, Della and Julie. Instead of waiting until her death to give us what she had, she gave us what she had while she was with us. Mom gave so much and asked for ao little. thank you, mom, for always being there, you were the best mom in the world. You will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at a later date. Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA, is assisting with the arrangements.
