Peggy Alice May April 28, 1936 ~ November 26, 2014 Peggy May, age 78, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family who loved her so dearly. Peggy had suffered for an extended time with dementia. So, while it hurts to lose her, we feel she has been set free. Peggy was born in Iuka, AR and spent her childhood with her parents, four brothers and three sisters on the family farm. She spent all her school years in the same area of Arkansas. After high school, she attended business college in Tulsa. She returned to Arkansas, where she met the love of her life, Cyril May. They were married January 8, 1956, in Calico Rock, AR. A few months later, they moved to Washington State in search of work, and have spent the majority of their married years in East Wenatchee, WA, where they raised their four children. Peggy was a dedicated homemaker, who put her family as her top priority. We all benefited from her love and devotion and first rate skills in the home. She was always there for us. She did work outside the home at times, in the fruit harvests and later on, hanging wallpaper. She had so many skills and interests. Each year, she raised a large garden and canned vegetables and the ample fruit available in the Valley. She enjoyed bowling for many years on a league in East Wenatchee. She also was an accomplished quilter, who made many, many quilts to share with family and friends. Peggy had a real love for life and was always up for just about any activity. She played softball and went berry picking in the hills. She joined in on hunting and fishing trips, often guiding to the perfect location to find the game. She enjoyed her grandchildren fully as they came along, caring for the little ones and teaching and having fun with them as they got older. She offered genuine and sincere friendship throughout her life, and was rewarded with special friends, whom she treasured. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Cyril May; her four children, Rex May and wife, Jeanne, Randy May and wife, Wendy, Teresa Colberg and husband, Steve, and Ryan May and wife, Chelsea; her nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Sharon Sanders; and many, many good friends, who seemed like family. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to her dedicated caregivers, Shelly and Jessie, who helped Cyril, Ryan, and Chelsea in caring for Peggy in her last years of illness at home. A Funeral Service will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Jerry Beebe officiating. A Private Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be private. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
