Peggy Whitmore

Peggy Wynette Whitmore passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, at the age of 84. Peggy was born on September 19, 1939, in Entiat, Washington, to Albert and Mavis Long. Growing up in the Entiat Valley, Peggy developed a deep love for her community, which she carried with her throughout her life. On November 24, 1961, Peggy married the love of her life, Gary Whitmore. Together, they built a wonderful tight-knit family, raising four children who in turn blessed them with 11 grandchildren: Greg Whitmore (Karen) - children Cory, Heather, Ryan; Marty Whitmore (Lisa) - children Ash, Riley; Garci Duncan (Bruce) - children Carson, Blake, Drew; Wendi Crutcher (Jeff) - children Case, Colby, Landon. Peggy’s grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished every moment spent with them. Peggy took immense pride in their accomplishments and joy and could often be found in the bleachers cheering for her grandchildren and their teammates. Peggy was a beloved school teacher in the Entiat School District and was involved in several organizations over the years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mavis Long, husband Gary Whitmore, and older brother Wayne Long. She is survived by her 4 children, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Rick and 3 sisters, Judy, Leanne, Debbie and a very wide circle of family and friends who cherished her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. We will celebrate Peggy’s life on September 7, 2024 with a service at Entiat High School at 10:00 am followed by a potluck dinner at the residence of Wendi and Jeff Crutcher at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peggy’s memory to the Entiat School District, Entiat Historical Society or Chelan County Fire District #8, all causes close to her heart.
