Phyliss A. Truscott May 9, 1936 ~ September 20, 2013 IN LOVING MEMORY Phyliss A. Truscott, 77, passed away on September 20, 2013, due to complications associated with heart surgery, and was surrounded by her loving family. Phyliss was a loving mother, devoted wife, and dedicated teacher. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and remembered fondly and never forgotten. Born to Samuel and Myrtle Geddis on May 9, 1936, Phyliss grew up in Spokane WA and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. Phyliss met Don Truscott, the love of her life, in Spokane and they were married on September 11, 1955. Don and Phyliss moved to the Wenatchee area in 1960, where they lived and raised their family. Phyliss was a wife and mother, and at the same time, pursued her dream of teaching by attending Central Washington University and received her education degree from Central Washington University in 1969. She became a teacher in the Wenatchee School District, teaching first grade at Lewis and Clark Elementary for the past 43 years. Phyliss's passion in life was family, educating young students at school, gardening and enjoying the outdoors. She especially enjoyed teaching and annual vacation trips to Curlew Lake and fishing trips to Kodiak Alaska. She was never one to shy away from new activities, the unknown and had a firm conviction of right and wrong. Phyliss cared for and lived the life of importance of family, integrity, compassion, devotion and hard work, as cornerstones to success and a life well lived and for that we are eternally grateful. As a loving and devoted wife, Phyliss was supportive and stood steadfast in her commitment and devotion to her husband, Don. We will miss your feisty Irish moxie, your compassion, laughter, friendship, and zest for life, but are comforted by knowing that you are looking over us and are a part of our lives forever, through your tireless devotion, compassion, teaching and outlook on life. Phyliss is survived by Don Truscott, her husband of 58 years; sons, Keith Truscott (Carla), Kirk D. Truscott (Cynthia); and daughter Karlynn Funk (Mike). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nick Truscott, Ben Truscott, Kayla Truscott, Kirk A. Truscott, Boyd Funk and Morghan Funk; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Truscott, Berklie Truscott and Brayden Truscott. Phyliss was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Geddis; mother, Myrtle Geddis; sister, Catherine Perkins; father-in-law, Stanley Truscott; mother-in-law, Florence Truscott; and grandchild, Hunter Funk. A casual Celebration of Phyliss's Life will be held at Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee, WA on October 5, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. for a festive celebration of her life. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and leisurely visit with family in celebration of her wonderful life. Donations to the American Heart Association are welcome.
