Robert Gordon Golie

Bob passed away peacefully, in the afternoon, on the 4th of July, 2013. He was at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. Independent 'til the end. Bob was born on March 17, 1962, in Monterey, CA to his loving parents, Carl and Joyce Golie. He was the middle child, with his older brother, Ron, and his little sister, DeAnne. Bob graduated from Capital High School, Helena, MT, in 1980. On August 23, 1982, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. In April 1986, he was honorably discharged. While in the U.S.C.G., he received the C.G. marksmanship pistol ribbon, C.G. marksmanship rifle ribbon, and the first C.G. good conduct medal for period ending 85 August 22. While stationed in Hawaii, he met his bride to be, Elizabeth Montgomery. They spent the summer of 86' together in Montana. That fall, he was hired as a temporary customer service technician for Xerox. In January, he became a permanent Xerox employee, working out of Tukwila, WA. Bob and Elizabeth were married on November 21, 1987. When a transfer opportunity arose, they decided to move here to Wenatchee. This has been a wonderful place to raise their family. Bob worked as a customer service technician for over 25 years with Xerox. While working for Xerox, he received numerous awards. In 1990, he received the President's Club Award, in 1998, the Eagle Winner Award, and a Peak Performers Xerox Service Excellence Award in 2006. Bob was a remarkable man. He loved to scuba dive, water ski, snow ski, auto restoration, ride motorcycles, and golf. He was also known to be a great emphasis vocalist! He always enjoyed helping others. If you needed anything, Bob was the first one there. Random acts of kindness was his manner. He learned to take pleasure in the little things; was very comical with family and friends. Bob always had an upbeat attitude, a grin on his face, and adored his family, friends, and pets. Bob loved the outdoors. He liked to camp, when the mosquitoes were tolerable, hike, river walk, and enjoyed his house and yard. He loved his German Shepherd, "Dude" along with shepherds of past. Dude's personality put a smile on his face almost everyday. He was very proud of his family. His sons impressed him. Their attitudes, humor, kindness, and love. He was a great companion, friend, husband, and father. Bob will always be remembered as a loving, devoted husband, a wonderful, connected father, a great son and excellent brother and brother-in-law. An uncle to look up to and "great uncle" to smile and giggle with. A dedicated friend to many, with a quick wit and grin to follow. His shipmates, co-workers, and bosses were witnesses to his "can do" attitude, his diligent demeanor, and his exceptional performance. He would take 20 minutes to save five minutes on a ten minute job! Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of their home in Wenatchee; their two sons, Brendan (Alex) of Wenatchee, and Patrick (Tascha) of Yorktown, VA; his father and mother, Carl and Joyce of Helena, MT; his brother, Ron (Sheila) Golie of Livingston, MT; and his sister, DeAnne (Ed) Maronick of Helena, MT. He is also survived by many uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and newly extended family members. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, 711 Grant Road in East Wenatchee.
