Robert Shelby Schmid

Robert "Bob" Schmid Wenatchee, WA Bob passed away peacefully at home August 8, 2015, due to a recent illness and declining health from a 2010 injury. He was born January 22, 1940, in Missoula, MT to parents Charley Willard Schmid and Anna Louise Belcher. Bob graduated from Missoula County High School in 1958, and attended the University of Montana. He pursued his plumbing career with C.W. Schmid, Inc. Bob owned his own business for five years, and worked for several others as a "Mechanical Estimator". He moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1987 to work for Far West Services and Mechanical. He retired in 1998 from McCandlish Electric. 1963 was a special year for Bob, as he placed 7th in the annual "International Apprentice" contest at Purdue University, LaFayette, IN. Bob participated in many sports; hunting and fishing topping the list. In 1959, Bob married Karla Kraabel; together they had three children. In 1976, he married Terri White, and they had one daughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Granley Schmid) of 30 years; his daughter, Debbie Gordon of Missoula, MT; daughter, Kristi Schmid of Missoula, MT; son, Bob Schmid Jr. of Missoula, MT; daughter, Shelby Schmid (B.J.) of Wenatchee, WA; stepdaughter, Kirsten Hatzenbiler (Jake) of Belle Fourche, S.D.; stepson, Dion Holter (Kelley) of Greenville, TN; brother, Bill Schmid (Dory) of Lolo, MT; sister, Gayle (Vernon) Waters of Marysville, WA; sister, Bradie (John) Simons of Frenchtown, MT; brother-in-law, Ken Ruud of Bellevue, WA; 17 loving grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daniel Schmid; and sister, Barbara Ruud. Services are to be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, 711 Grant Road in East Wenatchee, WA, with a reception to follow from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at Clearwater Steakhouse on Valley Mall Parkway. A Celebration of Life will be held in Missoula, MT on October 10, 2015; place and time to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 55, Wenatchee, WA 98807. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
