Russell Hart

Russell Llewellyn Hart October 7, 1919 - September 24, 2012 Russell was born to Lillian and John Hart. The family lived up Squilchuck until moving to Wenatchee in 1929. After working as a telegram delivery boy and manager of Osborn Food Store, Russell enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942. Staff Sgt. Hart served in England and France during WWII and following his honorable discharge December 27, 1945 he returned to his roots in Wenatchee. He married his longtime friend Erna Downing on June 29, 1947. That year he also became the first Snyder's Bakery bread route driver in the Wenatchee Valley. When he retired 37 years later in 1984, he had amassed an overwhelming number of admirers. Retirement years with wife Erna were busy traveling and serving their community. An active member of Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church, he also continued his involvement in American Legion Post 10, F.O.E. #204 and Wenatchee Kiwanis Club. The loving surroundings of his family and lifelong friends became Russell's salvation when he lost Erna in 2003. After 9 additional years of love and commitment to others, Russell was reunited with Erna on September 24th. Waiting at the gates of heaven with her were his parents, brothers Clayton and Marion, sisters Evelyn and Etta Mae, numerous in-laws and dozens of friends. His 27 nieces, nephews, their spouses, great and great-great nieces and nephews were honored to call him Uncle and are richer for having him in their lives. He will be missed but Russell Llewellyn Hart has given all who knew him a model to emulate. Visitation for Russell will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, in East Wenatchee 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2012 and at Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Wenatchee 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2012. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 6th at Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church with a Graveside Service to follow at Wenatchee City Cemetery, Wenatchee, WA. Memorial Donations may be made to the Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church building fund 1400 S. Miller Street Wenatchee, WA 98801. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA
