Theodore Jay Jardine

Captain Theodore "Ted" J. Jardine, USMC Ret. was born in Seattle, WA, July 14, 1940 to Leah Hufferd Frykholm and George McLean Jardine. Ted was promoted to heaven on July 28, 2016. Sunstroke proved fatal after a fall at home. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1962. He had a passion for flying, computers, and learning. Ted was a flight instructor for many years and was certified to instruct instrument flight. Some of his happiest moments were spent soaring above the clouds. For many years, he was active with the local Mensa club; he had a great desire for improving his mind. His book collection numbers in the thousands. While in the Marines (which he was very proud of), Ted served as an interpreter, as well as an MP. Once a Marine always a Marine. He volunteered math tutoring to many high school and junior college students (as well as by phone for his nephew, Patrick). His math mind was incredible, and he was extremely patient with others. Ted took his father to Scotland for his 70th birthday. They shared the sights and visited many locations that his father remembered from his childhood. Another favorite trip was to Russia, where he got to practice the language. In 1972, Ted and his first wife, Merrily, took their special cat, (Kimo) to South Africa for two years, as he was a computer engineer. Later they lived in California and Woodinville, WA. Merrily passed away in 2005. This modest, private and strong willed gentle giant had a heart of gold. His love of animals was well known. He shared his homes with many cats and several dogs. He also was a Little League Baseball umpire. A mutual friend introduced him to Geneva McCoy in 2009. They married in Colorado Springs, CO in January 2011, and made their home in East Wenatchee, WA. Her many friends welcomed him to his enjoyment. He was an Applarian and assisted Geneva in her many community activities. Because of a brain tumor about 20 years ago, he had hearing and balance problems, as well as chronic nerve pain, which was often nearly debilitating. Just in the last three months had his health improving dramatically. This Marine will be missed. Semper Fidelis. He is survived by younger siblings,Thomas Allen Jardine, Sr., Henry George "Hank" Jardine, and Joanne Scanlan; and several other relatives; as well as his wife, Geneva. A memorial service will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 10:30 a.m. Reception will follow. Interment will be later in the year at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, Bellevue, WA.
