Thomas B. Cummings

Tom, of Rock Island, WA, wanted to let you all know he left on May 26, 2017, at 2:00 a.m., to get an early start for the fishing trip of all fishing trips and he won't be back. And Tony's Market on Grant Road lost a loyal customer. He was born September 9, 1952, to Kenneth Clark "KC" Cummings and Dorothy Berdahl in Miles City, MT. The family moved to Wenatchee when he was three years old. He graduated from Eastmont High School, class of '71. "Tommy" spent many summers in Forsyth, MT, with his Uncle Ben and Aunt Kay Berdahl and cousins, Teresa, Rocky and Roger. He worked for the railroad for a bit and then joined the Navy in January 1972, and was part of the WestPac Tour. Tom was the "Fuel King" on aircraft carriers and left the Navy with an honorable discharge as an ESN2, January of 1978. While in the Navy, he joined the International Divers Association and became a certified diver. Most of his diving was in Guam. His last ship was the USS Proteus. When he came home, he enrolled at Wenatchee Valley College and entered the X-ray Tech program, made the Dean's List with a 3.9 G.P.A. After some time with the Forest Service and other odd jobs, he arrived at Lamb Weston/Conagra and worked his way up to Production Lead. He retired in 2009, after 30 years, due to medical reasons. He had a few interests: his home grown tomatoes, fishing and bow hunting with friends, Chuck and Pete, and brother, Ben. He was never without his Tapatio, ever. And, he always had time for the kids, any kids. Our kids and all their friends were part of our family, as well. Tom leaves his wife and best friend of 37 years, Dawn Cummings; two daughters: Keri Cummings (Colin Duggan) of George, WA, and Emily Snider (Heath Kaech) of Quincy, WA; three grandsons: Jaxon, Brantley and Aiden Snider; brother, Ben Cummings of Nevada; many nieces and nephews; his best friends: Chuck Stanton of Entiat, WA, and Pete Lancaster of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aspen Marie Snider; sisters: Kim Cummings and Sandy Smith; one brother, Curtis Cummings; his parents, KC Cummings and Dorothy Floyd. Services will be on July 8, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at Telford's Chapel of the Valley 711 Grant Rd., East Wenatchee, WA, with a potluck BBQ at 12:00 noon, the same day, at Washington Park in Wenatchee. Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the Confluence Health Foundation in care of the Cardiac Unit.
