Thomas Schweitzer

Tom was born in Seattle, WA, to Susan and Nicholas Schweitzer on November 11, 1949, the youngest of five children. Tom was raised in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and Queen Anne High School (1968). He married his wife, Judith Irene (Rockness), in 1969, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves, from 1968-1975. Tom and Judy started their family right away and were blessed with four daughters: Sheila (1970), Carolyn (1971), Brenda (1976), and Anna (1977), He spent nine miserable years as a meat cutter (his words!), before changing professions and joining the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 265, in Everett, WA. They made their home in Arlington, WA, for 36 years. Tom had two passions: his wife and girls and fishing! For many years, he took joy in summer weekends on his boat (the "Willow Stick") in the San Juan Islands, and later, fishing just about every river and lake in Washington State. When he wasn't fishing, he squeezed time in to go bird hunting or deer hunting with his brother, sons-in-law, and grandsons. After retirement, Tom and Judy built their home in East Wenatchee, WA, and have spent happy summers around the pool with their children and grandchildren. Tom was a member of the Wenatchee Fisherman's Forum and couldn't get enough of fishing and telling mostly truthful tall tales with fellow fish-a-holics. Tom and Judy loved snowbirding in Yuma, AZ, each winter; prospecting for gold in the desert with his mentor, Wendell, soaking up the sun, and socializing with all of their wonderful friends at Friendly Acres Resort. Tom was a friend to everyone he knew, and he will be missed by all, except maybe the fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard Schweitzer; sister, Rose McMeekin; and granddaughter, Stacia Maul. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Judy; four loving daughters: Sheila (Jeff) Davis, Carolyn (Ed) Dudek, Brenda (Jeff) Dotson, Anna (Robert) Shipley; 11 grandchildren including: Marisa Maul, Krystal Dudek, Tommy Dudek, Cody Dotson, Luke Shipley, Macy Davis, Ava Dotson, Jack Shipley, Cole Davis, Owen Davis, and Joshua Shipley; and older brothers: Jack and Dan Schweitzer. There will be a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott Ave., Wenatchee, WA. Reception to follow in the parish hall.
