Virginia "Jinny" Wood October 23, 1938 ~ December 5, 2012 Virginia "Jinny" Wood passed away, peacefully surrounded by her family, on December 5, 2012. Jinny was born to Vernon and Katherine Bangert on October 23, 1938, in Omak, WA. Jinny graduated from Okanogan High School in 1956. After graduation, she attended Kinman Business College in Spokane; thereafter working as a dental assistant and then, secretary for the Okanogan County Engineer's Office. From her first marriage came three sons, Brian, Mark and Kelly Wells. After moving to Wenatchee in 1970, Jinny worked for Western Farmers. Then, she was employed as a secretary for Wilbur-Ellis Company for over ten years. Jinny finished her career with retirement in 2000, from Harrison's Auto Parts Stores (with NAPA) as their bookkeeper. Jinny married the love of her life, Ivan Wood, on May 30, 1987. Together they shared a storybook love for 25-1/2 years. He was at her side for the last four years, fighting every minute with her and her battle of the return of her cancer. Jinny loved her family, the outdoors, the ocean, always looking forward to a new adventure. Her special love was Thanksgiving gatherings with her family and the wonderful meals she loved to make for all of us. Her talents were many, including crocheting, knitting and cross-stitch, of which she won a 'Best of Class' at the Chelan County Fair. Her talents even included a mean game of marbles! Jinny is survived by her husband, Ivan Wood of East Wenatchee; her children, Brian Wells of Moses Lake, Mark Wells of East Wenatchee, Kelly (Carolyn) Wells of Entiat, Bambi (Rod) Nashem of Redding, CA and Patty Wood of Port Angeles, WA. Jinny is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharron (Wayne) Parkin of Forest Grove, OR and Marilyn (Mike) Martin of Okanogan; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Ron) Harrison of East Wenatchee; brother-in-law, Doyle Wood of Wenatchee; mother-in-law, George Wood; and also numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Oncology staff at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, Dr. Notter, Dr. Tucker and Katie Kimball for all of their above and beyond care of Jinny; she loved you all. A special thank you also to Hospice and the wonderful nurses involved with Jinny's care. The family will always be grateful for your wonderful comfort and support. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jinny's name to Cancer Care of NCW or the charity of your choice would be an honor. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
