Wallace R. Coy

Wallace R. "Wally" Coy, 71, of Wenatchee, left us to join his Father on December 9th, 2012. He died at home with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Wally was born on November 13th, 1941 in Trumann, AR to Preston E. Coy and Tennie A.(Dexter) Coy. He is survived by Joyce, his life-long wife of 49 years, son Darren Coy and spouse Denise of East Wenatchee, and daughter Denise Coy-Drake and spouse Scott of Wenatchee. He is also survived by 7 younger siblings, 4 brothers; Gary Coy of Helena, AR, Larry Coy of W. Helena, AR, Tony Coy of Batesville, MS, Edward Walker of Perkinston, MS, and 3 sisters, Edye Rutledge of Tupilo, MS, Mary Porter of Richmond Hill, GA, and Sherrye Walker of Greenwood, MS. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Dustin Coy and spouse Samantha of Eastsound, WA, Derek Coy and fiancé Chrystell Norris of E. Wenatchee, WA, Colton Drake of Wenatchee, WA, and Carmen Drake of Wenatchee, WA, as well as 3 great-grandchildren; Adrienne, Natalie, and Preston. Wally is preceded in death by his father, Preston, his mother, Tennie, and great grandchild, Noah. In 1964, Wally began work in the Wenatchee Valley in the fruit industry, and in 1965, at the Keokuk Silica Metal plant in Rock Island (later converted to Hanna Mining and other succeeding owners) as a Fireman, Industrial mechanic, and Welder. He retired in 1998 to assist his wife in their ownership and management of "The Restaurant" in downtown Wenatchee from which they both retired in 2007 to enjoy a bit more freedom. At a young age Wally learned to love the great outdoors and hunting of all kinds. That love endured all of his life. Some of his most cherished memories were during these hunting trips and the quality time he spent with "the guys". We are especially grateful to all of the angels in the Chemotherapy Dept. of the Wenatchee Valley Clinic, who gave Wally tender, loving care during the year long struggle with his illness. A memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 28th at Kings Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Avenue, Wenatchee. Minister Dale Linge will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee. "God took The strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a warm summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight, The joy of a morning spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need, Then God combined these qualities. When there was nothing more to add, He knew his masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it".....Wally. A great Husband, Dad, and Grandpa! You are the greatest! We Love you -we miss you -and cannot wait to see you again.
