William "Dan" Mooney

Dan Mooney passed away on April 23, 2026. Dan was born on August 5, 1954, in Wenatchee, WA, the first of five children to Bill and Joyce Mooney. He grew up in East Wenatchee, attending Kenroy Elementary, Sterling JH and Eastmont HS. Dan played basketball and baseball for the Wildcats. Growing up in the 50’s - 70’s, Dan had many good friends from his childhood who were still there for him up until his passing. Dan grew up playing sports, including: Little League, Babe Ruth, and Legion Ball. After HS he began playing fast pitch softball for a few years and then slow pitch softball. He played slow pitch from 1977 to 2015. Great friends and family were a big part of his softball years. Playing Jack and Jill with family, competitive softball with friends, and Senior Softball with his dad, brothers, and close friends. Dan is a member of the “Senior Softball Hall of Fame,” inducted in 2014. Dan lived his entire life in the Wenatchee Valley. Working for various places, including Alcoa, Pinedale Ranch, Pyrotek and FibroCorp. He enjoyed walking on the Apple Capital Loop Trail early in the morning where he met and made many friends along the way. Special thanks to Tim and Cathy, Trail Walkers, who stopped and visited with Dan many times when he was at East Wenatchee Senior Living, and always brought Dan an apple pie, one of his favorites. We are grateful to all the medical professionals at Confluence Health for their personal, professional and compassionate care for Dan throughout his health care challenges. A special thanks to Dr. Aaron Lewis and Dr. Enrique Esnard, two very wonderful doctors. Also, to East Wenatchee Senior Living where Dan was cared for by many wonderful caretakers over the past three years. While living at Senior Living Dan was fortunate to have his lifelong friend, Dave Flowers, come and visit every Thursday. Dan truly enjoyed Thursdays, Dave always had a good story or memory to share with Dan, we are forever grateful for Dave in Dan’s life. Also, many thanks to Tonya, Veronica, Maria, Lisa and Heidi who were all really special in taking care of Dan while there. Dan is survived by his brothers: Randy, Greg (Carol), and Jeff (Brenda), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Joyce Mooney, and sister Paula Arnold. The family plans a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 20th, 11:30 am -1:00 pm, at the Hydro Park Shelter for all family and friends.
