Yvonne H. Rode

Helen "Yvonne" (McEnroe) Rode Wenatchee, WA Helen "Yvonne" (McEnroe) Rode passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children the morning of March 14, 2013, due to complications from lung cancer. She was 86. Born on December 10, 1926, in Baker, OR to James and Nell McEnroe, Yvonne was the middle daughter between older brother, Jim, who preceded her in death, and her younger brother, John, who resides in Eagle, ID. Yvonne grew up and went to school in Baker, met Richard Rode, fell in love and married on December 16, 1945. Yvonne's most important and loved jobs were being wife and mother. She worked at The Silver Needle fabric store, Peoples Department Store, The Final Touch and Wood & Things. She was also Den Mother, Avon Lady and Hospital Gift Shop and Senior Center volunteer. She loved to sew and made hundreds of t-shirts, pajamas, dresses, shirts for Richard, wedding gowns, quilts and more. Yvonne was an active member of Lazarus Guild, Catholic Daughters and the Cotton Club quilting group and was a valued friend in the community. Richard and Yvonne lived in Baker, OR, Coeur D'Alene, ID, Ephrata, WA and moved to Wenatchee in 1959. Surviving Yvonne are her husband, Richard of Wenatchee; four children, Barbara Ray of Wilsonville, OR, Bill and Cindy Rode of Big Sky, MT, Kay and Tim Lorrain of Auburn, WA and Patty and John Wilsey of Stehekin, WA; nine grandchildren, Michelle Jennings and Bryan Foland, Tyler Erskine and Kimberly Lam, Kristen Lorrain and Amy Tidball, and Beth, Sarah and John Mark Wilsey; and two great-grandchildren, Reece Jennings and Nolan Lam. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Foland. A Funeral Mass for Yvonne will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott St. with a reception following at 11:30 a.m. in the adjoining hall. If you desire, the family requests that you remember Yvonne with a contribution to the Knights of Columbus.
