Dianne Davies

Dianne Davies Orondo, WA Christmas, or any holiday really, will not be the same without Dianne Davies. An avid collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments and other holiday decorations, Dianne went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2015. We rejoice in the fact that her new, eternal body will not wear out like the earthly one. Born in Brownsville, PA on April 16, 1946 to "Bub" and Mildred Bayer, Dianne would claim to be "one of the first babies boomed." At the age of three, her family moved across the country to Riverside, CA, and then to Lakewood, CA, where she would graduate from Lakewood High (Go Lancers!), Long Beach City College (Go Vikings!) and Long Beach State University (Go 49ers!). At this time, Dianne enjoyed riding her horse, Red Cloud, and learning about Russian culture and history. The latter enabled her to experience what it feels like to be on the wrong end of a rifle when a Soviet guard mistook Dianne as a Russian trying to sneak into the foreign tourist line at Lenin's Tomb in Moscow. Luckily, the tour guide smoothed it all out. She then served in the US Army for four years as a First Lieutenant. When she was stationed in Oakland, CA, she met Second Lieutenant Ted Davies. There must be something romantic about serving together since Ted flew across the US to South Carolina to propose to the then recently re-stationed Dianne. They were married on February 15, 1975 and had just celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. After marrying, they moved to Orondo, WA, which was quite a culture shock compared to her former greater Los Angeles area home. Luckily, Dianne soon had her hands full with their son, Zach, after moving. She kept herself busy by keeping the home running like a Swiss watch, volunteering at the Orondo Community Church and Farmhouse Originals in Waterville, collecting everything Hallmark and supporting Patriotic causes. Dianne is survived by her husband, Ted, still in Orondo. Her son, Zach, daughter-in-law,Tomoko and granddaughter, Mio, live in Wenatchee. Dianne was very close with her brother, Barry Bayer, of Lakewood, CA. She also had numerous relatives scattered all across the Wenatchee Valley and United States. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. Her family would like to thank the caring crew at Riverwest in Wenatchee for her care in the last months, as well as the Hospice Services at the Central Washington Hospital. A Memorial Service is planned for Dianne at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Orondo Dollars for Scholars or the Orondo Community Church in her name. We will miss her. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
