Donald Pepin

Donald Dale Pepin, SR. It is with great sadness that we write of the passing of Donald Dale Pepin Sr. he will be remembered for his sense of humor, his generosity and his love of life. His adventurous spirit took him all over the world. Don was born and raised in Cashmere, WA. His first job was in the hot summer sun, with a shovel and sledgehammer, working for the railroad. He said he learned the value of hard work that summer. He knew then that he wanted an education and to serve and help people. He graduated from Pacific University in 1958 from Optometry School. He married Ruth (Todd) Pepin in 1957. They raised 4 children together, Steven, Rick, Donnie and Lynda. Don the "Doc" was blessed with being a truly compassionate eye doctor. For 50 years he was successful time and time again as he opened up new practices in Wenatchee, Leavenworth, Quincy, Yakima and Lake Chelan. Don had a strong work ethic yet was a caring physician. He was well like for his gentle chair side manner. He was unique and many people remember him with his sing song voice of one "onnnnne" or two during their eye exams. His caring nature also ran deeply in his soul with animals. He was always rescuing or feeding strays. Fixing broken legs or having them spayed or neutered all at his own cost. One time after hearing the meows of cats in a large dumpster in the back of his office in Moses Lake, he got a ladder and lowered himself down into the garbage and pulled out 3 baby kitties. He always had kitty food in the back of his rig for that "just in case" moment. That was just the kind of man he was! "Doc" loved fishing, boating, skiing, golfing, poker and billiards. He was competitive but always fair. He will be dearly missed by many of his friends for some of these weekly get-togethers. His longtime partner, Sue Long will cherish many found memories of their times together with friends, numerous cruises and travels: Cape Horn, Brazil, Tahiti, those are just a few to mention. Don was born July 18, 1935 and passed away peacefully February 23, 2015. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy and Robert (Cashmere) his son Donnie Jr. who opened and managed many of the optometric practices and specialty retail stores. Survived by his loving daughter Lynda Pepin who resides in Wenatchee and still operates Vision Menagerie, LLC. Steve and Lisa Pepin, children Skylar and Parker (Seattle). Rick and Jane Pepin, children Rachel and Mikayla (Wenatchee). Ruth Pepin, his forever friend and honest book keeper (Wenatchee) His sister and friend Helen Uecker-Kern (E. Wenatchee) will love and miss her baby brother forever. Donnie Jr. was survived by 3 children, Donnie III, Madeline and Victoria (Lake Chelan). A memorial service will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley Friday, March 20th at 11AM
