Jay Anthony Wyngaard

Jay Anthony Wyngaard, 57, a longtime resident of East Wenatchee, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Jay was born in Coulee Dam, WA on March 23, 1953, to Lee Wyngaard and Norma (Holloman) Wyngaard. He spent most of his childhood growing up in the Wenatchee Valley, graduating from Eastmont High School in 1971. He met and fell in love with Betsy Kline and they were married on October 11, 1975, making their home in East Wenatchee. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Jackie and Kimberly, who Jay was very proud of. In 1979, Jay started his life's career at Chelan County PUD, where he went through the Hydro-Wireman apprentice program, starting out at Rock Island Dam, where he performed his craft as a Journeyman. In 1999, he bid to Rocky Reach Dam, as a Foreman. He held the position of Plant Electrical Foreman until the time of his death. Jay was a member of the IBEW Union Local #77. Jay was well known for his warm sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman, taking in the many opportunities to enjoy the valley he loved. His outdoor passion was hunting behind his two English Setters for upland game birds, as well as eagerly putting up the yearly elk camp in the Cowiche area with his close friends. He loved scouting for that perfect deer on the Colville Reservation with his cousins. Over the years, he spent leisure times with family and friends golfing, waterskiing, fishing and riding his ATV up the Colockum and in other local areas. He loved coaching his daughters' softball teams, which eventually led him to becoming a softball umpire at both the local and state levels. Also, Jay was always reading a good novel. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. His surviving family is his wife, Betsy; his daughters, Jackie Wyngaard of Seattle, WA and Kimberly Wyngaard of Fort Worth, TX; his sisters, Candyce Peppard of Lacey, WA and Debbie Edwards of Oakville, WA; as well as numerous extended family members who live throughout the Pacific Northwest. A Celebration of Jay's Life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Rocky Reach picnic area, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wenatchee Sportsmen's Association in memory of Jay. All donations will benefit the preservation of the Colockum Wildlife Area and elk herd, which he loved.
