Jeanne L. Griffin

Jeanne L. Griffin, of East Wenatchee, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 after a long, courageous battle associated with Systemic Mastocytosis. Born on October 29, 1957 in Walla Walla, WA, Jeanne was adopted as an infant by Frank and Gwen Johnson of East Wenatchee and became part of their family. Jeanne was born with two passions in life, music and animals. Jeanne excelled in music as a student at Eastmont Schools and was selected her senior year (76') to the "Bicentennial: Youth in America 1976 World Tour" where she played flute throughout Europe and on the East Coast of the US. In November of 1980, Jeanne and Tim married and honeymooned in Jeanne's favorite vacation destination, Disneyland. After starting a family, Jeanne opened her own childcare center where she could also be a stay at home mom for her own children. In her early thirties she was officially diagnosed with Mastocytosis, but this did not slow her down. In the beginning days of the Internet, Jeanne coordinated with other Masto patients around the world and became involved with "The Mastocytosis Society". This led to worldwide outreach, research and sharing of information like never before in the disease's history. Jeanne would spend the rest of her life learning about her disease, listening to other's stories and meeting people with the same disease. In the late 90's, she began taking night classes at Wenatchee Valley College and graduated with a Certified Medical Assistant degree two years later. She began working as a CMA at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic (Confluence Health) where she fulfilled another of her lifelong dreams by working in the medical field. Jeanne also used her musical gifts by playing and singing at weddings, celebrations and memorials. Further, Jeanne was heavily involved in the music program at church. This was very important to Jeanne as she felt her gifts were to be used for the glory of Jesus and spreading his word. Jeanne's passion for music and the arts had become her children's passion, which made her very proud. Tim and Jeanne renewed their vows after 35 years of marriage at the Disneyland Hotel in 2015, which Jeanne had planned to Tim's surprise. If she couldn't live in Disneyland, Jeanne would have spent every day at the beach. She loved the ocean, dolphins especially, and would just sit on the beach, listening to the waves, feeling the cool breeze, being completely content with the moment. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Gwen Johnson. Jeanne is survived by her husband Tim Griffin; their children Holly and Dan (Kate), grandchildren Jasmine, Pyper and Sawyer; sisters Dena King (Glenn), Cindy Johnson and Cathy English; brother Skip Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. God gave our family nearly a month of extra time with Jeanne thanks to the talents and gifts given to those who work at Ballard Ambulance, the Confluence Health (CWH) ICU and ER staff and the staff at Davita Dialysis. The family sends our utmost gratitude to them for their efforts during this time. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that any memorials for Jeanne be sent to "The Mastocytosis Society", PO Box 416, Sterling, MA 01564. Jeanne also held a special place for "Thunder Mountain Farms and Equine Rescue" attn: Helen Ardire, 39406 303rd Ave. SE, Enumclaw, WA 98022. A Memorial Service will be held at Wenatchee First Assembly of God; 1520 McKittrick St., Wenatchee on Saturday, October 28, at 1pm with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
